The Ballerina (2023 KMovie).

I just dived into YouTube to get the trailer for the movie I'm drafting its review. The movie is a Korean Movie that got a lot of hype before it's release on October 6, 2023. We will talk about the movie in detail, but back to the trailer... I just realized there is already a fanmade trailer for an upcoming movie with the same name as the one I'm reviewing. Lol.

Back to our review... Here's the profile of the Korean Movie we are reviewing;

Movie: Ballerina

Genre: Action, Thriller.

Release Date: October 6, 2023

Distributor: Netflix

I will start by saying that this movie got a lot of hype which isn't very common for Korean Movies. I can still recall seeing a lot of reactions from YouTubers who react to Movies and TV shows. As I've said on several occasions, I'm not the biggest fan of Movies. I prefer to get into TV shows, but there are times when I dive into Movies for whatever reason.

Choosing to fit this Movie into my watchlist is purely based on the hype and also because of the juicy trailer released for the show. Haha. Well, this Movie is 1hr.32 minutes runtime and the good news is that the action scenes have fairly decent choreography. The casting is also legit, but there is more to this show than the hype.

What's this Movie about?

This Movie tells the revenge story of a Lady whose Ballerina friend was bullied into committing suicide after a series of blackmail. The Ballerina lady was dragged through the mud by the blackmailer and when she felt like she couldn't take the blackmail anymore, she bid farewell to life and chose to commit suicide as an easy way out.

I can't blame her though. People have done similar stuff when faced with less intimidating issues.

When her friend who worked as a bodyguard and is also very skilled in martial arts and gunmanship found out that her Ballerina friend took her life, she dug into the case to see what she could get her hands on. Things turned nasty and brutal during her investigation as she got to know of the involvement of a gang that blackmails young ladies into sex work and even goes as far as trafficking human parts.

She was ready to fight her way up that gang until she got to the person who was directly involved in making her Ballerina friend's life a living hell. She was up against killers, but we already know she's equally one heck of a killer after the fight scene we saw in the opening sequence of the show.

Feed your eyes on the trailer below;

To be fair, the rating for this movie is decent and a lot of people have really good things to say about it. Just out of curiosity, I decided to check out two reaction channels on YouTube that reacted to the show and they gave this a thumbs up. In my case, I don't know why I'm generally unsatisfied with this show.

The storyline is simple. They did the best they could do in 1hr.32 minutes. They also did legit work on their casting and the acting scene, but it feels like a lot of scenes were irrelevantly spent on dialogue with the intent of building up the storyline. As far as I'm concerned, the Movie would have been so much better if most of those scenes were used for interesting action sequences.

Since the show is hyped as a blockbuster action movie, I expected a non-stop action in it. That's probably why I was disappointed by the level of dialogue in the show. It made the Movie a typical action movie instead of a blockbuster action-packed movie.

Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop or Comma.
