Staying on track with Alarms.

alarm-clock-590383_640.jpg

There was a moment in my life when I lived in constant worry about missing out on a scheduled meeting or scheduled appointment because I got distracted about some things which led to forgetting about some other things.

You see, I've always been someone who likes to stick to my words and I like to get things done. Once I tell someone or even tell myself about anything I would like to do, I go ahead to do it and I feel gutted whenever I forget to do that. I beat myself up for that and I don't enjoy the feeling that comes with missing an appointment or casually forgetting to do something.

Now, imagine what someone like myself would do to cope in this event-packed world that's filled with busyness.

Think about that for a second... Clue in!

Usage of alarm is the answer I found and this is something that I've already tested in my day-to-day life. At the moment, setting up alarms is already part of my lifestyle and I've used it for over a decade. Guess what? I still use it to this very moment.

Screenshot_20231205-122344.jpg

Some of my alarms are already fixed and those are the ones for the things I do routinely. From the above screenshot, you can see that the "Post X Winners" alarm is something that's already fixed because I do that every Sunday. The same goes for the "screening" alarm. That's set up for Monday to Friday and I don't edit the timing for whatever reason.

Aside from the important things I do routinely, I still set the alarm for things I just had to do on a one-off basis. For example, if I plan to call someone by 2 pm, I can decide to set up the alarm for that and take it down afterward.

Interestingly, I've noticed that the alarm I set is becoming a ceremonial act on my part. Most of the time, I still remember to do whatever I planned to do and I do that before the alarm rings. Even when I'm sleeping ahead of a big event and I set an alarm, I usually wake up minutes before the alarm goes off.

Let's briefly look at this Fun Question;

If my alarm could talk, what would it say? Would it be something good or bad?

I'm not sure if the idea of a talking alarm is something I would like to embrace. This world is getting quick AI oriented and I'm not fully into the drama. Haha. Well, that's not the focus of the question so, I will let that be. Let's move on.

As far as I'm concerned, if my alarm could talk, it bloody has to say nice things everytime it opens its mouth. Haha. I'm not a big fan of anything that spits uncultured words and my alarm is going to get the living hell trashed out of it if it ever gets in the habit of saying something bad. Haha. I'm not even kidding about that.

Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop or Comma.

I'm a big believer in multiple alarms for individual events.
Alarm 1: Wake up
Alarm 2: Get Ready
Alarm 3: LEAVE!

In the past, I overestimated how much time I had to prep and leave for an event. When I begin implementing this three-alarm system, everything changed.

That's worth taking note of. Haha. I also do that. I just go on and set multiple alarms for an event.

I even go as far as setting multiple alarms on two different devices when I need to get something done, especially when I just need to take a quick nap before an important event.

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on this.

It is amazing how you use alarm regularly and how you even remember or wake up before your alarm.

If alarm could talk, it would definitely have nice things to say.

Yes on. That's exactly how my journey with alarm has been. Haha. Even at the moment, I've already set an alarm for a meeting that will be held 45 minutes from now. Haha.

Have a good night's rest 👍.

It's interesting to know how we've become a accustomed to alarms. Just like you, I have fix alarms set for routine activities but It can become annoying sometimes, especially when you miss that activity but forgot to turn it off.

For someone very particular about words you are really cursing just at the idea of your alarm using uncultured words? haha, touche

Alarm just works perfectly in keeping us sane and organised. And I commend your act towards going with the alarm set for each day. You've got things covered.

Hello dearest fashionable dreemer. Today is Wednesday, which means we just have a few days to the weekend. But, before that, I hope you are well and ready to face the world because you can. You are an amazing person, don't forget that. I waltzed in from #dreemport, for I am an amazing #dreemer. An awesomely made #dreemerforlife.

Daalu. Meanwhile, I know someone who completely ignores hers and shuts up the alarm just to get back in bed and enjoy sleep 😂. "Someone"

Lol, I bet that someone is clearly an amazing and intelligent person. He/She doesn't need alarm but sets it anyway. An alien vibe

I'm glad you found something that works for you

I'd just get annoyed having so many alarms. I'm more of a list kind of person. I make a list of all the things I need to do during the day and work my way through them. Knowing I have to do something at a given time would just annoy me.

I do have an alarm to wake me up in the morning but I almost always wake up before it.

I do set timers during the day like my 27 minute timer for my 30 minute lunchbreak.

Or perhaps a 20 minute timer when I take a nap in the afternoon (I'm getting old, naps are important...but too long ruins my whole daily schedule).

Regardless,

Thanks for writing, enjoyed the read :)

I can relate to the experience you are sharing. Alarms can get very frustrating when they continuously buzz as a reminder to every little thing. Haha.

I know that because I had a roommate when I was in Uni who usually felt disturbed and distracted by the series of alarms that went off in the early hours of each day. Haha.

I concur with your Nap Time routine. That's something I would like to try because it will help me be more efficient in the time I spend doing things each day.

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on this.

With my regular setting of alarm I will still not wake up if the alarm rings, I prefer to put my hand on the dismissed button without opening my eyes. #dreemerforlife

(Edited)

Good to know you are a good user of your alarm and apart from the routine ones, you get reminded and delete after use. I think I should clean up my alarm reminders, it's too much now😅

Lol... I always remember to remove any alarm that's no longer relevant. Lol. I like to keep my alarm tidy and it's always a pleasure to do that.
