Being Kind; Is it such a tough thing to do?

In some sense, being kind can be seen as a virtue and it's our existential duty to show kindness in words and action... If you can.

Well, the question is;

• Why can't you?

• What's so hard about showing kindness to people?

• Is it such a tough thing to do?

You've got to think about this for a while and ask yourself important questions. Besides, don't you think you will have a better relationship with people if you genuinely speak and act kindly, even if you are just going to spend a minute with them?

As far as I can tell, a minute spent being kind to someone, in both words and action, may be enough to inspire them to keep going forward even when the difficulties of life are trying to drag them to hell.

Ironically, I believe we all are already going through a great deal of difficulties and so many people are trying to smile each day despite having a lot of burden. To every one of us, the words we hear each day and the treatment we get from people have their way of making us happy or sad.

Sadly, too many people get discouraging and disparaging remarks from their family, colleagues and employers. Those around them are quick to see their mistakes and shortcomings and they speak up about it. But nobody gives them a word of encouragement when they are getting things right.

For the record, I'm not so much against pointing out where people are getting things wrong. Feel free to criticize your friend, child, colleague, etc. Criticize them when they do something wrong, but if you turn a blind eye every time they do something right, then, you would have to rethink criticising them in the first place.

This goes without saying that we have to be conscious of the words we say.

So, how would we live through each day despite all the suffering we come face-to-face with? The answer is for each of us to try and be as kind as possible.

While we go through the rough patches of life, receiving words/acts of kindness from people and doing the same to others will make it easier for people to cope with the difficulty of life.
