A highlight of what this holiday season would look like.

tessa-rampersad-5toRIWF2GUY-unsplash.jpg

My holiday period is scheduled so tightly because I can already imagine the long list of things I would have to do and there are some things I would forgo just to avoid burning out. For the record, I would have loved to go see my Cousin in Lagos around that period and I may still do it, but for now, it's not looking like something I can talk about 'openly' until I'm sure of how things would be.

From previous experience of how I've spent holiday seasons, I've noticed that I'm well suited for the event-packed busyness that comes with holiday seasons and I enjoy working out my day-to-day to-do in ways that will make it so much easier to enjoy every bit of activity or event I feel like fitting into my holiday season schedule.

I believe y'all know the holiday I'm referring to. If you are in doubt about that, the holiday I'm referring to is Christmas and New Year holiday. It's already around the corner and folks are filled with a surge of anticipation.

Nothing is certain as regards my plans for the holiday season right now, but since we've already come this far, I will quickly give you a highlight of the plans I would likely stick with for this holiday season.

1. Spiritual Commitment: Both Christmas and New Year holiday is a season of celebration for obvious reasons. I'm all in for that and I grew up in a home where each of these is aligned with spiritual events like prayers, fasting, going to Church, and whatnot.

That's already a significant part of my Christmas and New Year celebration and I'm still practicing that even though I've been living away from home for so many years now. I already pinned a Christmas retreat in my calendar. I will surely go for Christmas Eve Mass and I know I will be going for New Year crossover Mass.

2. Recreational Travelling: I was considering traveling back home for Christmas but something forced my hands and made me make that trip a month ago. I spent the first week of November at home and it was nice reconnecting with my family after 3 years. Well, that means I would have to spend my Christmas without them this December. However, I may likely go for short recreational travels within town.

The holiday season would be a good time to visit places around the City that I'm in and when I'm on such trips, I try not to be at the same place for more time than supposed. I try to be in fairly sophisticated places. In places like that, it would be easier to meet people who are always polite and always happy to have someone in the arena.

3. Lots of Chops: What you eat is one of the things that make the holiday seasons remarkable. For some reason, it just feels different when you eat something sumptuous on these occasions. In my case, making sure that there is a lot to eat and drink is one of my priorities during Christmas and New Year celebrations.

When it comes to food, fried rice would be my top choice and I know there will be a lot of fried Chicken to go with that. Haha. I don't do alcohol, but whatever drink I end up getting would be well chilled, thanks to my deep freezer. I just hope my brother will be able to show up for the New Year celebration so we can flex these meals with passion. Haha.

4. Relaxation and Entertainment: There are so many things that can make me relaxed and entertained. Football is one of those and holiday seasons are always action-packed. I'm a big EPL fan and Liverpool has a very busy schedule this holiday period.

The above screenshot is just a sneak peek and I won't be missing any of those fixtures. Like, I can already imagine myself watching each of those while having a laugh with other football fans. It's all part of what makes holiday seasons special and I'm already filled with a surge of anticipation.

Happy Holiday to y'all in advance.

Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop or Comma.

Happy holidays to you as well o. Hmm the chops part caught my attention big time...as a foodie I don't like missing food at all and you rightly said it that there would be loads of food to go round during the holidays. If possible kindly forward a pack of rice with lots of chicken to my blog😂😂.

Haha... Food is a big part of what makes these occasions memorable. I can still remember the feeling that comes with eating rice and chicken during my Childhood Christmas celebration. Haha.

It's funny because these are meals we may eat on any other day, but it feels really special to eat those on Christmas days. Hah

I can only imagine what you will be preparing for Christmas. It must be a sumptuous meal. Haha.

You are right o, despite the fact that we eat these meals on any other day...it just feels extra special and tasty on Christmas day and New year season.

I will be preparing a sumptuous meal but this year, I was thinking of leaving status quo and doing something else aka swallow mainly semovita and edikaikong soup with loads of assorted meat and fish😁

Haha... The "assorted meat" part is all I can see. Lol. I'm not a big fan of Swallow so if I show up on Christmas day and get Swallow served... Chai. Haha. I will do an about-turn. Haha

It's interesting and I believe that tweak to the status quo will generate an interesting result. Remember to share the meal with us on Hive. Some folks need to feed their eyes with the awesome stuff.

It looks like I'm the only one that has gotten tired of fried rice, I have eaten it so much at one point that I'm no tired of it. You certainly have good and fun plans for this December, I especially love that aspect about the food, what is December without a lot of flexing? 😁

Haha... You have gotten tired of fried rice? Wow! I've surely seen people like you, but I just can't do without rice 😂.

I eat rice a lot at several intervals and I never get tired of rice as far as it's freshly cooked. Haha.

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on this.

Thanks for writing.

I took special note of the part where you said "whatever drink you serve it will be well chilled" and then mentioned a deep freezer which reminds me of a bad joke.

Q: "What do a pregnant girlfriend, burnt pizza and frozen beer have in common"

A: "You didn't pull out in time"

Yeah I know its terrible but when I think drinks in freezer I keep thinking of frozen cans of cola or burst bottles of beer.

If you truly love cold drinks if I may suggest a beer fridge or a travel fridge like I have. I have a fridge that lets me dial in the temperature to within 1C. Setting the fridge to -2C means a drink colder than ice that rarely (if ever) turned into ice.

Pure heaven for cold drinks.

Enjoy your Christmas season and thanks for posting

Oh. Wow! That's an interesting suggestion.

I've already had my Sachet water burst after getting blocked in the freezer. It's just water so it's easy to clean the mess when it defreezes. However, it can't be as easy to clean things up when drinks burst in the freezer.

That "bad joke" hits the spot though. Haha. It's effortlessly funny when given a good thought 😂

Portable for the car (cigarette lighter plug) great for picnic. Runs on regular house power and can be run on solar power.

My wife thinks I'm crazy but -2C drinks are awesome ;)

Yeah. My Christmas is just designed to be that way. Haha. I won't be mad if it doesn't end up the way I anticipated.

However, I know I will make the best of this festive season. Next year will be awesome.

I love the relaxation and entertainment part. Any year my siblings and I visit home, it is always about entertainment. We watch so much films, visit friends or create fun for ourselves like throw a house party or do cooking competition with the daughters and wives of the family. We all contribute money to put food in the house and sometimes kill goat 😃
