3 things I do to stay sane and grounded.

As someone that set out on a self-discipline and self-discovery adventure in the early stages of my life, one of the things that I've come to understand about myself is that I like to be in full control of my emotions and I don't ever want to be overwhelmed by things that are irrelevant to my day to day activities.

I've seen people who got torn apart by the busyness of this life and it's not very obvious that I won't get pushed to that edge especially when the busyness of my day-to-day life is mind-blowing. The physical and mental stress I face each day is unreal and it can be so easy to lose myself due to these things.

Thankfully, I've been able to build a very good pattern which I use to stay grounded and be in control even when all hell is getting let loose. They are as follows;

1. I schedule my days ahead of time.

For the most part, I always try to have a clear plan of what the next day is going to look like and I do this because I'm very organized and I like to have a plan for each activity. This makes it easier for me to wake up each new day with a clear purpose knowing fully well that I don't have a lot of time to waste.

Even as I'm writing this on a Thursday night, I have a very clear idea of how I'm going to spend my Saturday and I can tell you the exact thing I will be doing by 4pm, Saturday. It's clearly not as easy as it sounds to map out your days like that. What makes it easy for me is that I don't ever cheat. Yeah, I try as much as possible to stick with everything I planned to do.

What if uncertainty comes up? If something ever comes up, that won't be an excuse. I will still do what I have to do and find time to take care of 'uncertainties'.

2. I take very good care of my health.

It's not easy to do so much work in a day and still carve out quality time that will be invested in taking care of your health. However, the danger of not being in good physical condition is something I consider a bigger burden than whatever it would have cost to take good care of my physical well-being.

In my case, the things I usually do to be in decent physical health condition are categorized into three: Good nutrient intake, a decent sleeping schedule and consistent involvement in mild workouts.

I don't break myself in half to do any of these though. But, I've noticed that whenever I'm mindful of them, regardless of the type of stressful schedule I'm getting involved with, I usually manage to stay more grounded than ever.

3. I study relevant literature about Psychology, Philosophy and Humanity.

I genuinely don't have any clue about when I became such a huge fan of these topics. It just kinda happened and I've been religiously fitting them into my daily schedule. For the whole of this year, there is barely any day that has passed without me learning or refreshing my mind about talking points from those disciplines.

Also, when I say "I study", it doesn't necessarily mean that I have to read a book about any of those topics. A huge chunk of my studies is done by watching and listening to video podcasts, seminars, Lectures and debates involving very knowledgeable, intelligent and well-spoken professionals in those topics.

There is so much information on the internet for anyone curious enough to go searching. For me, I do a really good job of digging out that information. Yeah. Learning about topics of interest helps me to stay grounded.

These are a few of the things that helps me stay sane in this world of insanity. Hehe. Do you have something else you do to stay grounded? Tell me about those.

Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop Or Comma.

Good with the study part. I believe the knowledge of psychology and humanity is a good tool to keep you grounded. One who's knowledgeable, is always a step ahead to solution finding.

Nice. I also think the study part may well be the easiet of the three to cope with if we are disciplined enough.

It doesn't take too much to learn something new each day. It's usually a matter of looking in the right direction. Hehe.

Well Done, Bro. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on this.

Focusing on one's own self discovery, and one's own health is actually the first, bes tthing for making those around you better as well. If you are trying to help people, you need to help yourself, first, before you can help someone else.

Yeah. That's a huge discovery and it's not so much of a secret. Instead, the issue is that many people overlook the importance of taking good care of their health. Haha.
