Return, My Dove [Poetry]

My nest is cosy and wide open
Yet I must hold you close

Though the sky's made for flying
Such a cheeky remark earns you
A tighter embrace

Don't leave yet, my dove
Stay with me forever

Till the sun sets
And many moons may pass
Let your ruffled feathers lie at peace

Many adventures await
As mother nature calls you away
To realms far beyond my reach

Stay, I plead
I glimpse what you do not

Your chuckles of delight
Wafts back to me
On arms of a light breeze

Angled wings glide through the murky storm
In search of my dove

Many a broken wing flutters midair
Like flurrying snow
As the lost ones fall to their death

Still, I search, unrelenting

Your wings of indigo and amber
Calls out in the rumble of the storm
Fear betrayed in your eyes

Where are your calm and energy?
For I will always find you

Come home
Let your ruffled feathers lie at peace
Under my wings of silver and blue.
