The Power of Inspiration: My Sister Made Carbonara

Happy Sunday Hivers!

They say that when you’re inspired, you become more eager to explore different things. I’d say there’s truth to that. Why can I say so?

I was really surprised by my elder sister because she’s never been the type who enjoys being in the kitchen or cooking. I’ve known that since we were kids—she would always frown whenever she was asked to wash dishes or cook. Even as we grew older, I never really saw her cooking; she’s always preferred cleaning instead.

But recently, I’ve noticed a change. Ever since she got into a relationship with that certain someone, she’s started buying kitchenware and even learning how to cook. In fact, I often tease her, saying that it’s really different when you’re inspired—you suddenly find yourself spending so much time in the kitchen. She just smiled at me.

Last weekend, while we were grocery shopping, she suddenly said, ‘I feel like cooking carbonara.’ Being the ever-supportive one, I told her we already had plenty of pasta at home, so we just needed to buy the other ingredients. Actually, we still have a lot of pasta in the house from the giveaways her company handed out last Christmas. So that’s what we did—we bought some ingredients, though not everything was complete, but it was fine since it was just us who would be eating anyway.

She was the one who did all the cooking—I just watched. She prepared all the ingredients, everything from start to finish. My only role was to take photos. And while we were enjoying our conversation, she kept on cooking.

Until she finally mixed all the ingredients together. I was amazed because she actually knew what she was doing. I just couldn’t believe how hardworking she’s become in the kitchen. Before, she was too lazy to even explore cooking, but now she doesn’t mind doing everything herself.

I actually got excited to taste her cooking after she mixed in the pasta. The aroma alone was enough to make me really crave it. While she kept mixing, she kept saying, ‘I wonder if this will taste good.’ I couldn’t stop laughing at her

I tasted her carbonara, and when I told her it was delicious, she didn’t believe me. She just kept asking if I was really sure.

That’s why I can really say it’s true—when you’re inspired, you become eager to explore new things. I’ve seen it myself with my sister. She used to hate cooking and even washing the dishes, but now she doesn’t mind doing everything in the kitchen. She’s so motivated that even without any help, she’s perfectly fine handling it all on her own.
