Endless Horizons: The Vitamin Sea

Happy Tuesday Hivers!

Our house in my mother’s hometown is very close to the sea. The moment you step outside, you can immediately see the ocean. Growing up, I developed a deep love for the sea. Unlike other children who were afraid of it, I would happily spend time at the beach and even swim alone. Back then, I was still a child and had no idea that many people had died at sea—whether from drowning, shipwrecks, or storm surges caused by typhoons that even washed away houses built just a few meters from the shore.

I grew up witnessing how houses, boats, and fences were destroyed by the sea. That was when I started to fear the ocean, yet I still loved watching it. However, unlike before, I no longer enjoy swimming if I’m alone.

Every time I go back to my mother’s hometown, I never miss a chance to visit the beach and take photos of the sea. I really enjoy walking along the shore while capturing pictures, especially during sunset, when the entire view of the ocean looks breathtaking.

I love the view of the sea most in the early morning and late afternoon, especially during summer when the water is perfectly calm. It almost looks like a sheet of paper without a single crease. It feels so peaceful, making it the perfect place to sit quietly and read a book without any distractions.

I’ve noticed that every time I travel, I always feel the urge to take photos of the sea. Are you like that too? I took this photo as I was getting off the ship—the sea was so calm, and the surroundings were incredibly peaceful. I really enjoyed capturing the moment before heading home.

There was a time when my mother took me to a place I had never been before, even though it was actually not far from the seaport where we usually board the ship to Cebu. I never expected to find such a nice place here, so I was really surprised when we arrived. While we were walking around, we saw some teenagers having fun surfing. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to catch the moment when one of them was riding the surfboard.

Whenever I feel completely stressed in the city, I go home to the province because, for me, it’s where I can truly breathe and find peace. There’s no noise, no chaos—just beautiful views that nature offers for free. When I look at the endless sea, it feels as though it’s reminding me that, like the ocean, my mind can be limitless, and I am capable of finding solutions to the problems in my life. There may be waves caused by rough weather, but no matter how big they are, the time always comes when the sea becomes calm again because the storm has passed. The sea can be compared to life—after the storms we go through, we can always find peace again.

Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!
