A Brother’s Gift: The Book I’ve Been Waiting For

Happy Thursday Hivers!

I hadn’t seen my younger brother for years, our only communication was through Messenger. He studied in Australia for two years, but his return home was delayed because of the pandemic. By the time he finally came back to the Philippines, I wasn’t in Cebu. Later, he left again to study in Canada for another two years. Now that he’s finally returned to the Philippines, we were at last able to see each other again.

My brother and I both love reading books, a trait we inherited from our grandfather’s brother on our mother’s side, Grandpa Joy. He was truly passionate about reading. Almost every time we visited his house, we’d find him immersed in a book. His living room was filled with shelves and stacks of books everywhere.

Today, my brother invited us to go to SM Seaside because he wanted to shop for gifts for our mom and dad. And since I wasn’t working, I decided to join them.

While we were standing in front of the bookstore, I noticed a book that immediately caught my attention. It was one of the books I had been wanting to buy, but since it was a bit pricey, I hadn’t purchased it yet. I’ve always preferred hard copies over e-books, so I decided to hold off on buying it for now.

However, my brother overheard me talking about how much I wanted that book. He told me to go ahead and get it because he would pay for it. At first, I was hesitant since it was quite expensive, but he insisted , so I finally took it.

After he paid for it, he handed the book to me. I was so happy to finally have it in my hands. When we arrived at my brother’s place, I immediately opened it, but I didn’t start reading yet. I wanted to spend time with my brother and mom first since we rarely get the chance to talk and be together for long.

I’m actually really excited to start reading this book. I plan to dive into it once I’m alone in my room. I’ll be heading to my mom’s province soon, and I’m even more excited to read it there, by the beach, alone, with the sound of the waves in the background. I’ll definitely share my thoughts about it on Hive once I’m done reading.

Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!

Namaste! I am fond of reading books, watching korean, american and filipino series/movies and I am also fond of gardening. I love listening to different life stories and I am always captivated with the beauty of nature so travel is my escape when life turns into blue. But hey, how could I forget my photography hobby? It is one of the best, so follow me as I will be featuring my experiences of the stuff that I am passionate with.
