RE: From Fun To Fortune: Monetizing Your Hobby

You also need to understand that even though you are to think big, there is nothing stopping you from starting small. One of the things that limit a lot of people is that they wait for the "perfect setup" before they start,

That is so true @samminator. As is everything else that you wrote. But I couldn't quote it all 😀.

That part resonates with me particularly. Because I've been playing that waiting game recently.

20+ years ago, my hobby was writing and publishing on this newish thing called the Internet. Then I learned about Internet Marketing as a way to monetize my hobby. And I enjoyed a little extra income alongside my day job. When redundancy hit, I set myself a six month deadline (living off the redundancy payment). To develop my hobby into a business. And not long after my deadline, I was back on a similar income. Without having to deal with creepy bosses - other than myself, of course😀.

Nothing lasts forever, and eventually personal circumstances reduced my online earnings. But it doesn't matter now. Because my retirement pension is enough. So I can return to my hobby. Except that I have been procrastinating. Waiting, as you said, for my 'perfect setup'.

Now I have to just get on with it. Fortunately, with Hive, writing comments on great posts is a very enjoyable kickstart.
