A contagious spirit is in the air

Tis the season to be joyous and I am so fulfilled. My heart is full of abundance and I'm thankful for everything - the sunshine, rain, joy, blessings, and even disappointments. I believe that everything was divinely orchestrated for the stars to finally align in my favor.

The holiday season and its euphoria have a fantastic way of keeping me in the moment. I yearn for the season and it is not a revelation that there is always magic in the air. Like a contagious spirit, everyone is consumed with an elation that births sweet nostalgia.

The air comes with incredible reassurances that the coming days are going to be magical and life will be full of bliss. There are sweet waves of strength, love, and compassion that could last you a lifetime.

Then there comes the happy faces, the warm regards, the good wishes, and admirable thoughtful gifts. From the cute greeting cards to the wholesome meals, I relish and appreciate all of it.

During the season when friends and families share an exceptional bond by sharing, there is always a lot of food and treats to go around.

The meals are made with so much love and they smell so nice that you cannot resist. I admit that I find myself overindulging. I usually have more than I can handle during the season. Most times, these foods are like comfort meals and it is hard to say no. But at the end of all that munching, I feel a pang of guilt in my spine.

What do I do? I hold off making my own meals for a while. Since I have all these alluring delicacies coming in, it's a kitchen holiday for me. That saves me time and resources that I can channel into other activities.

I make sure to separate the treats I can save for later by preserving them properly. I often end up with treats long after the holiday that I can snack on. I also do not hesitate to share what I have with others. After all, it is the season to be joyous and sweet.

I still find myself working during the holidays. Whether it is running errands, shopping for the home, working out, or catering to friends and family, I make sure I am up and about. Over the years, I've found that this has helped me to curb the extra pounds I would have put on.

Now tell me, 'Tis the season! From Halloween through the other Holidays, food is at the center of it all! Whether main dishes or treats like desserts and candies, the smorgasbord is never-ending. How do you deal with the abundance and keep from overeating, or do you? What tips can you offer to keep it under control? What do you do to deal with the abundance and keep from overeating during the holidays?

Face it, food has been very much culturally tied to most festivities regardless of ethnic tradition but it doesn't mean that we can't make better choices. I find that we can make better wholesome and more beneficial choices too.

Very well said. I think that's what makes the difference, whether it is the drinks, foods or snacks, better choices are always best.
