A name is more than what it means

I was scrolling through an old forgotten email account the other day a digital ghost town of my past self and there it was My first username:
**Shadowhunter, I cringed I laughed And then I got thinking that ridiculous combination of SH and a melodramatic fantasy trope was my introduction to the world, It was my flag planted in the soil of the early internet, my identity in chat rooms and on gaming servers.

It’s easy to think of a username as just a necessary tag a random string of characters to get you into a system, But it’s so much more than that It’s the first impression you make in a digital space It’s the handle people will come to know you by for better or for worse It’s your brand before you even know you have a brand and on hive blockchain it's your wallet address that everyone who wants to send you funds will use in identifying you if need be.

I remember choosing that name I thought it sounded cool, mysterious and powerful as I like to remain anonymous especially online as the advancement of technology in the world has been developing in a rapid space since the evolution of artificial intelligence. I didn't think about the fact that I’d be typing it out thousands of times or that people would shorten it to “Shadow” in voice chat didn't consider that it might look a little silly on a professional gaming forum years later I was just a kid and it was just a name.

But that’s the thingit wasn’t just a name It was a mask a persona It gave a shy kid a bit of courage to be someone else someone with a blade made of shadows, for goodness sake and I still love the feelings of being an anonymous creeping silently without giving out my true identity, so call it weakness but with the era of the level of wickedness and plotting in the world one needs to be careful when giving out personal information about one's self because you never know who is watching or lurking around you server or backend.
