Tutorial: Testing out Snapie that is available in AppStore

I had seen this post by @snapie a few days ago but today I decided that I should try it.

@Snapie (You can find it as Hive Snaps in App Store) is available and you can download and support the project if you wish.

This simple tutorial is about the current app, version 1.0 - released in September 2025. If you are reading this post later, please check more recent reviews or let me know if anything is outdated.

If you are reading this and you are brand new, please head over to the end of the post for a short wiki on terms like hive, snaps etc.

Tutorial

Head to AppStore and search for Hive Snaps, or click the link here

After you download it, you read and (if you wish) agree to the terms of service and then you are ready to use it - you will need your posting key and username for logging in.

The app is created by @meno so if you are on hive, feel free to contact him, support or ask anything you wish!

Upvote / Reply

After you log in, you will be able to scroll and see the most recent / or trending spans (depending on what you have selected on top of the app)

Then you can upvote and also comment on any snap!

Create your snap

Click on the blue circle with the cross on the bottom right of your screen to create your first snap. If you wish to include a photo then you should grant access (just like for any other app)

There is a limitation for 280 characters.

What I noticed is that you can also see longer posts (if for instance they are linked in a snap, and you can upvote, reply to them - but always within the 280 character limitation

Terms

Hive: Hive is a decentralized blockchain network designed for fast, feeless, and scalable transactions. It supports social media, content creation, gaming, finance, and Web3 applications. Unlike traditional social platforms, Hive is community-governed—there’s no central authority, and users own their content, accounts, and data. Read more here

In hive, users can write long-form (article style) blog spots, post videos using @threespeak (https://3speak.tv/) or shorter posts (similar to tweets written on x) that are called with different names, depending on the community they are written in.

If you use Peakd.com - they are called snaps
If you use Ecency - they are called waves
If you use InLeo - they are called threads
(there may be more in the future)

Snaps: Short posts (may or may not include media) that are posted through the PeakD community.

You may access them using the Peakd.Com at this link: https://peakd.com/snaps/snaps/newest

Or simply click on Snaps

@renny187 has created a tutorial about how to access snaps through the Hive KeyChain

You may also find it under the account @peak.snaps

Why you should consider using content of short form on hive

  1. We may not always have a theme for a daily longer post
  2. We may wish to share information with other users multiple times a day
  3. We may wish to socialize
  4. We can see the topics that are being discussed
  5. There may be a question that we have and do not know where to post it
  6. We can also earn micro-rewards
  7. We can also spread micro-rewards to the topics-authors of our choice

We are part of a community blockchain : ) And every bit of content is part of it, for ever to exist here. Be unique, honest and TRUE.

Please see below a short video about how to sign up, and create a snap.
It is all pretty much very easy to use, you see the posts and you can sort them by new, trending, following and then you upvote, repost or reply to the short posts that you wish.

Some of my observations about @snapie that could potentially be implemented.

  • Right now it takes three clicks to reply, can the reply be put next to every snap?

image.png

  • When I click on upvote and move the percentage, the amount does not change. However it is upvoted correct.

image.png

  • It would be very practical I think to be able to write a snap (similar to x, or leothreads) bu clicking here>
    image.png

  • I think that something more inviting could be written at the page that appears in AppStore, and maybe some screenshots where $rewards can be shown
