Passage to Light: Art Illuminated in Saint Mark’s Basilica

I am one of the approximately 3,500 visitors that have visited this exhibition during the first week. It is hosted at the Basilica of Saint Markos (a Venetian building that was built in the 1200), where the artist Christos Bokoros is hosting a painting exhibition called "Passage to Light"

The first thing you see when you get in .. those windowes, a swing and a fresh olive branch.

*You may see more images here, do not mind me, It was just my favorite spot)

The light was placed in a very smooth way, so as to reflect at the marble floor. It was quite (at times you would hear a strange noise, not sure what that was - but I will ask next time)

This is the first time that Christos Bokoros presents in Heraklion an exhibition, specially designed for Crete. His artwork blend with the religious character of the Venetian Basilica of Saint Mark, which, through the weight of its cultural heritage, highlights the timeless quest for light.
dont we all search for it?

The artworks and environment provide a very humble feeling, and the visitor will feel blessed throughout their experience.

Overall there are smaller paintings on wood, that are so pure, representing instants of the Greek Nature.

Different angles of the same view, as we can see on our right the universe and the sun.

This is an exhibition that I will need to visit again and take a better video, so I will probably be adding more material at a future date.

I hope that you have enjoyed it as much as I did and that I have sent over some of the positive, luminous vibes that I have felt...

Stay well

Dark rooms and light art, what a cool idea. The swing and olive branch at the entrance got me. Gotta see this if I ever get the chance to be in Heraklion

The rooms are supposed to be dark, because the viewer is supposed to discover the passage to light!
Glad you liked it!
