Capturing Coastal Charm in WinterTime: Milatos Fishing Village in Pictures [Part 1]
Visiting Milatos Village during wintertime, found a bar with no name and a cute port. How does it look without tourists?
But first, let me tell you that this was a rather short visit. The days are still short, so I wanted to leave before it was dark - so the time we stayed was not enough.
A few things you should know:
Milatos Village is a small, picturesque & traditional village with stone houses and a relaxing atmosphere. It is located on the north coast of Crete, approximately 45 kilometers east of Heraklion. It is a good place for relaxing and for eating fresh fish & local dishes. You will find many villas nearby, but also small apartments, a small fishing harbor and a pebble beach
This is where the village is located
You should know that the road leading to the village has some uturns and there are parts where it is narrow. Also, there are a lot of uphills and downhills - keep that in mind, especially if you are driving a motorcycle.

This is the first thing that we saw when we stopped.
Perhaps not too impressive on the first sight.
Some old houses and some new ones, the road had a few issues and needs maintenance..

The village is surrounded by mountains, so right after the sun sets during winter time - it starts getting darker.
There are some houses and a few taverns on the seaside road.
Only one tavern was open, but there were some people walking and enjoying the sunset.
I found a bar with no name there :)
Which reminded me of this song
Let's take a look at the little port that you can find on the left side of the village.
You will see some graffiti that has gotten old

And a good-looking mermaid saying hi :)

I could not help it - not shooting this scene was impossible. I wish I had a better camera with me!
I hope that you enjoyed the shots! Now let's make a short recap and please note that I will visit again and will come back with a more rich photo-reportage!

The shore has pebbles, and this may be hard for people to swim without proper shoes.
Milatos village can get crowdy during the summer time. Both locals and tourists visit it!
If you are in the area, make sure to visit the Milatos Cave & the Villages in Sisi - they have lovely taverns and very beautiful local/ traditional houses that you can photograph
It can be a very relaxing spot with not so many people - therefore ideal for more incognito holidays
Be attentive, the roads have lots of uphills/downhills
It is surrounded by mountains, so you will usually see calm waters
I hope you enjoyed this virtual tour with me!
