This weeks Battle Mage Challenge is about the Little League rule.

Splinterlands tells us the following about the Little League rule:

Description:

Only units and summoners with a mana cost of 4 or less may be used.

Little League only allows monsters and summoners of at most 4 mana. This means that most legendary summoners are out of the game, as well as some of the more annoying cards like Grimbardun Smith, Almo Cambio etc. Durable support lineups are also hard to set up in this mode. On the other hand, there are plenty of Sneak monsters around, so we really have to consider putting up some protection for the backline. In the rebellion meta, we also have to consider that players can use Moxian Rebel + two cheap non-attacking monsters to gain a lot of stat value. Magic Reflect might be a good option to deal with that. Similarly, a Thorns on the backline can do wonders against Sneak setups.

Battle progress and Result

This battle is going to be really close. We have very similar lineups, with the difference of my Ravenhood Warden + Soul Stranger, and his Revealer+Fenmoor Haunt. I am reasonably protected against the Fenmoor Haunt due to the Armored Up rule and the Protect that Ravenhood Warden provides.

Round 1 proceeds without much surprises. All my damage is directed at the frontline, and it is just exactly enough to bring down the enemy Xenith Monk. Unfortunately, my Xenith monk has gotten both Poison and Stun applied to him, and he will therefore go down quickly in round 2.

As noted, my Xenith Monk dies from the first magic hit, while my Soul Strangler loses his final point of armor from the Fenmoor Haunt. My units take down the Shadow Snitch, but in turn my Shadow Snitch gets stunned. Fortunately, my rng is also not all bad, and Dr. Blight applies poison to Revealer so that it will die at the start of the next turn.

Revealer dies, but then the Fenmoor Haunt kills my Soul Strangler. The Venari Bonesmiths attack and both apply poison to their targets. Finally, my Ravenhood Warden and Dr Blight attack and deal some damage to the armor and health of the opposing Bonesmith.

Now the rounds turn a bit boring while the low damage units work on the Life Leech of the frontlines, while Fenmoor Haunt has a lot of armor to deal with on the backline.

At the start of round 5, the enemy Bonesmith has died, but my Bonesmith is poisoned and will perish soon.

As the game drags on, we find ourselves at last in this final showdown. Here, I have luckily applied Poison to the Fenmoor Haunt already, and thus I am going to win, since he needs two hits to take down Dr Blight. Close match, but victory for me!
