The Outer Worlds - Seein' the sights in Halcyon šŸ”«šŸš€

When the Outer Worlds was first released, I was devastated that I couldn't play it.

I mean, I could have played it, but I have this thing I struggle to get over where I want all of my games on Steam, and for some ridiculous reason, The Outer Worlds released as an Epic exclusive.

I waited impatiently for the day it released on Steam, and gleefully bought it the moment it hit my preferred platform.

But, disaster.

I finally had this game I wanted to play, but I was suffering with a god-awful migraine and couldn't hack more than 10 minutes of the game. The migraine lasted a week. And by that time the hype had worn off and I no longer cared about playing the game.

What can I say? My attention span can only handle so much before something else snatches at it. xD

Anyway.

Last week I saw a video for the Outer Worlds 2... and I suddenly felt the urge to play the first game as I had always intended! And, of course, I'm disappointed that I hadn't played it earlier.

I created a lovely lady who would focus on utilising her dialogue skills, and if that failed she would be ultra sneaky and boom-headshot all the enemies.

And she was soon joined by an equally lovely lady who would serve as her first mate forever more!

Most of the companions in this are likeable. The only one I don't really care for is Max the Vicar. But I guess that's also part of his character.

I like how if you suffer something one-too-many times, it becomes a flaw for your character and affects your character.

It didn't take me long to get concussed. Exploding landmines a little too close to myself would most certainly do that.

I also like how things you find in the world end up as part of the decor on your ship!

I killed a dude, and now I have his hat sitting on my table. I found a 'danger' sign, and one of my crew decided to claim it and pop it in his room, I found a little mechanical bee pet thing called Mr. Petey, and it was soon flying around my ship.

I thought that was spiffy.

There are so many amusing quests and bits and pieces littered all 'round the game.

In the screenshot above is a dude I rescued from a locked bathroom. He had been stuck in there for days! The toilet had exploded, he left to get some repair gear, and when he came back the door locked him in. In the dialogue were a lot of shitty puns. xD

I approve of low-brow humour.

I've even had to dig through poop for drugs.

Classy. XD

One of my companions is a re-built cleaning robot who happily cleans my ship while I'm away.

My ship's AI appears to er.... enjoy his cleaning, a little overly much, wink wink.

There are a few different environments to explore. The over-arcing story is alright though not terribly interesting. I'm enjoying the gameplay, the dialogue, the quests, and just the small details though.

So, while the story is nothing to write home about, everything else is pretty spiffy.

Except the lacking photomode.

Yes, of course that grinds my gears.

All in all though, it's an enjoyable game and I'm glad I'm finally playing it, and I'll totally be playing the Outer Worlds 2 also when it releases.

Here's hoping this time the upcoming game won't be an Epic exclusive. Because. Eurgh. It's such a gross practice.

Until next time! šŸ˜ŠšŸ”«šŸš€

I hate the EpicGames as well, that launcher is really bad. But the free games they are giving away is so cool. I remember this one was free too and went to check if I had it in my library. Found it!

That's one of the best free games they gave away, as big as giving away GTA V lol (that's how I played that one).

I still have to find the motivation to play this one, though. You are making it a bit easier hehe.

Oooh, definitely give it a go! :)

I just finished it. It's not overly long at about 35hrs or so, but it's definitely an enjoyable game! :D
