Regular medical check-ups can help us avoid serious health challenges
Hi friends in this lovely community, I hope I find you well. This week's prompt is a topic I can relate well with, as I have a first-hand experience.
Honestly, everyone desires good medical check-ups or treatment, but many of us are limited due to finance. I'm not really the type that visits hospitals often, infact I hardly go to the hospital and I'm glad about it because I don't fall sick easily.
I remember my first actual checkup during my stay in school hostel. Most people visit the school hospital often at the slightest headache they feel, but all through my stay, I never visited the hospital until this very day that I had pains in stomach.
I thought it was just a minor pain that would go away with the use of paracetamol. Unfortunately, the pain persisted, and I had to visit the hospital or my hostel mates won't let me breathe.
I went with my hospital card which I hadn't used, I also had to wait for the nurse to check my vitals before I could see the doctor. The wait was like forever, students were too many that I began to wonder if I made the right decision to visit the hospital.
After 3 hours long wait, I was summoned by the doctor and I went. I explained to him about my stomach pains, he asked series of questions and then I was asked to go to the laboratory for a specific test. The next day, I went back for my test results and to see the doctor.
The test results showed that I had bacterial infection, I was shocked because I didn't see that coming. He administered medication and told me to return if the pain persisted after the medication. I was glad I went for a proper checkup because I would have been taking a different medication and cause myself a serious health problem.
I might not be the type that visits the hospital regularly, but I still try my best to go for check-ups when I notice anything different in my body system. Some feel the hospital will recommend irrelevant test just to milk them, while others think that when they visit hospital, different sickness will be discovered.
Whatever the case might be, the fact remains that periodic medical check-ups should be included in our plans and budgets. This way, we are not set back when unforseen occurrence strikes.
Most people have successfully won the fight against cancer and this is only possible because it was detected on time and treatment or surgery carried out immediately to avoid the spread. That's the benefit of a regular check-up.
Periodic medical checkup is very important because it can help us discover any problem in our system at the early stage, which can be treated easily, thereby avoiding future damage.
A good tip to incorporate check-ups without breaking the bank is to have small savings set aside. No matter how little we can save at a time, let's endeavor to make it a habit to save up for our well being because our body needs maintenance, same way we try to maintain our cars and other important things.
Our health should come first, "prevention is far better than cure"
ALL IMAGES ARE MINE.
