My favourite tattoo style.

I have always loved the idea of having tattoos drawn on the body. There’s just something about them that feels incredibly personal, almost like carrying a piece of your story on your skin.

I find them incredibly artistic, and I love how they can mean different things to different people. But when it comes to actually getting one myself, I have a different perspective. I don’t see myself ever covering my body with tattoos and that's because they are not always appealing to me, so if I ever decide to get one, it has to be something subtle and meaningful. I wouldn’t want anything too bold or flashy, just a small mark that feels like a quiet part of me rather than something screaming for attention.

That’s why I’m more drawn to the minimalist tattoo style. I love the idea of having something valuable to me etched on my skin something like a small, well-placed tattoo that holds deep meaning but isn’t overly flashy is exactly my taste. I just tend to admire tattoos that tell a story without being too bold or extravagant.

Take Phil Foden’s number 47 tattoo, for example. At first glance, it’s just a number, nothing special. But when you learn the story behind it—that his grandfather passed away at the age of 47, and this was his way of honoring him—it becomes so much more powerful. That’s the kind of tattoo I’d want. Something personal, something tied to my own journey, rather than just a design that looks cool.

One of the things I love about minimalist tattoos is how effortlessly they blend with a person’s look. Unlike large, colorful tattoos that immediately grab attention, small tattoos feel more natural. They’re not trying to stand out—they’re just there, a quiet expression of something meaningful. And I like that.

There’s also the fact that minimalist tattoos tend to age better. Big, intricate designs can fade and blur over time, and sometimes they don’t look as sharp as they once did. But simple, clean lines—especially fine-line tattoos—tend to stay elegant even as the years go by. They don’t lose their charm as quickly, which makes them even more appealing to me.

I currently do not have any tattoos but if I ever decide to get inked, I know it would be something small. Maybe a tiny word, a date, or a simple symbol that represents something important in my life. I’d probably go for a spot like my wrist, behind my ear, or maybe even my ribcage—somewhere that’s easy to hide if I ever need to, but also somewhere I can see it and remember why I got it in the first place.

For me, tattoos aren’t about making a statement to the world. They’re about marking moments, carrying memories, and having something that holds meaning beyond just its design. I actually admire people with big, bold tattoos, but that is just not my style.

I agree with you as far as how personal a minimalist tattoo is. It's a message to oneself, rather than shouting it out to the world.

I love it when tattoos are very minimal and meaningful, even if I get a tattoo in the future it would be simple and I would tag it with a memory.
