Ripple commits $5M more toward crypto research in APAC

Ripple has committed an additional $5 million to its University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI) to support blockchain research and education across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

This new funding expands Ripple's grants and partnerships in countries including Taiwan, Australia, Singapore, South Korea, and Japan, aiming to foster academic research, student initiatives, and blockchain curriculum development with a focus on the XRP Ledger (XRPL).

In South Korea, Ripple pledged $1.1 million over six years to Korea University for research on blockchain scalability, privacy, and cryptographic security, building on existing collaborations with Yonsei University.

In Japan, grants to Kyoto University and the University of Tokyo now exceed $1.5 million, supporting decentralized finance and blockchain interoperability research.

In Singapore, Ripple’s funding surpasses $3 million with new and ongoing grants to Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the National University of Singapore (NUS), including projects developing AI frameworks on the XRP Ledger.

Ripple entered Taiwan through a partnership with the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (NKUST), providing a six-figure grant to research real-world asset tokenization and establish an XRPL validator.

In Australia, Ripple extended its partnership with the Australian National University (ANU) and started collaboration with Victoria University, with total investments now at $1.3 million supporting blockchain curriculum and legal research.

UBRI has now invested over $11 million in APAC universities, reflecting Ripple’s strategic focus on this region known for fintech growth and blockchain innovation.

This $5 million commitment is in addition to Ripple’s recent $25 million funding to education nonprofits in the US, underscoring the company’s global push in blockchain education and research.
