Pavel Durov given permission to leave France

Telegram founder Pavel Durov has been granted permission to leave France temporarily, according to sources familiar with the case.

A judicial source confirmed to AFP that he departed France on March 15, 2025, with court approval for a "several weeks" absence.

This development follows his earlier placement under formal investigation in August 2024 for alleged complicity in organized crime activities on Telegram.

Durov faced a €5 million bail, mandatory biweekly police check-ins, and a travel ban after being charged with 12 counts in August 2024.

While the exact duration of his permitted absence remains unspecified, sources indicate he relocated to Dubai. French authorities reportedly allowed the departure under judicial supervision.
