CZ proposes Bitcoin, BNB for Kyrgyzstan reserves

Binance co-founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao has formally proposed that Kyrgyzstan include Bitcoin (BTC) and Binance Coin (BNB) as the foundational assets for its national crypto reserves.

This recommendation came after CZ was appointed to Kyrgyzstan’s National Crypto Committee and began advising the country’s National Investment Agency (NIA) on blockchain and digital asset strategy at the invitation of President Sadyr Japarov.

CZ’s vision is for Kyrgyzstan to leverage Bitcoin as a store of value and BNB for its utility in decentralized finance and smart contracts etc., positioning the country as a regional hub for digital finance and innovation.

The proposal aligns with Kyrgyzstan’s broader digital ambitions, including a new partnership with Binance to launch Binance Pay for crypto transactions and the development of blockchain education programs through Binance Academy.

President Japarov has also highlighted the country’s underutilized hydroelectric power, suggesting it could support sustainable crypto mining and generate new revenue streams, further strengthening Kyrgyzstan’s position as a potential green crypto hub.

In addition, Kyrgyzstan is preparing to launch a gold-backed stablecoin (USDKG), initially backed by $500 million in gold reserves, as part of its push to modernize its financial system and embrace digital assets.

CZ’s proposal, if adopted, would make Kyrgyzstan one of the first countries to diversify its reserves with both Bitcoin and BNB, signaling a bold step toward integrating cryptocurrencies at the sovereign level.
