The number of crypto users in Italy has increased by 118% over the past five years. This growth resulted in over 4 million new crypto users, bringing the total to approximately 7.6 million holders. This is comparable to other European countries like France (3.3 million new users) and the UK (4.8 million).

Despite this significant increase, Italy ranks 21st globally and 7th in Europe for crypto user growth during this period.

Furthermore, recent data shows that about 13 million Italians are interested in crypto, although actual ownership has slightly decreased from previous years.

Growing acceptance by individuals and institutions has been a key driver, as more people become aware of crypto.

The rise of decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms has attracted new users interested in financial services beyond traditional banking.

Improvements in blockchain technology have made transactions more secure and efficient, encouraging adoption.

Crypto are seen as a potential hedge against economic instability, which may appeal to some investors seeking diversification.

Other European countries have experienced more significant growth: Germany and France both saw increases of 125%, while Hungary had a rise of 133%, and Sweden experienced a remarkable increase of 200%.

In contrast, countries like Lithuania and the UK matched Italy's growth rate. Despite this, Italy still ranks behind several European nations in terms of overall crypto adoption.
