Crypto Exchange CEO’s Daughter Escapes kidnapping Attempt in Paris
The daughter of a French cryptocurrency exchange's CEO and her two-year-old child narrowly escaped a brazen kidnapping attempt in the 11th arrondissement of Paris on Tuesday morning.
Three masked men armed with knives and a handgun tried to forcibly abduct the woman and her child from the street by dragging them toward a van. The woman resisted fiercely, at one point grabbing a replica air gun from one of the attackers and throwing it away.
Her partner intervened, shielding them and enduring several blows and a possible stab wound. The couple's cries for help eventually attracted bystanders, one of whom threw a fire extinguisher at the fleeing kidnappers, causing them to abandon the attempt and escape in their vehicle. All three victims sustained light injuries and were taken to hospital.
The targeted woman is the daughter of the CEO and co-founder of Paymium, a French cryptocurrency exchange platform. The incident is part of a disturbing trend of violent attacks and kidnappings targeting figures in the cryptocurrency industry or their families in France.
Authorities have assigned the investigation to Paris's anti-banditry brigade specializing in organized violent crimes. No arrests have been made yet, and police are seeking any information or footage related to the attack.
The case highlights growing security risks faced by high-profile individuals in the crypto sector due to their perceived wealth.
