👧 Srey-Yuu's New SuperCub 50 🛵 135 km/l Looks Pretty Good ⛽
We're back home from Phnom Penh with Srey-Yuu's SuperCub, so now it's time to begin the motorbike training and get back to daily life.
📦 A New Box Is A Cat's Best Friend 🐈⬛
While in Phnom Penh I grabbed a second UPS battery backup for my computer and mode, and this will allow us to offer wi-fi and some power access during blackouts. ChairWoman Meow didn't seem to care about the UPS at all, but she found the box to her liking. I had already shoved the box under the bed and forgotten about, but Meow investigated and climbed in, then gave me the eyes that mean she wants to play with her in the box.
We haven't really left Meow at home alone for more than a day since she came into our lives, and we were worried about her while we were gone. She's a godless killing machine luckily, and doesn't have any cat food in her diet, just the occasional seaweed chips and lots of fresh kills. She knows the tuk-tuk is the thing that takes us far away for longer than the motorbike, so after our return I found her sleeping in the tuk-tuk, apparently not wanting us to leave again without her having a say first.

I finally yanked Srey-Yuu's bike out of tuk-tuk and began giving it an inspection, adjusting the brakes, tightening the chain, airing up the tires, and a few other things to make sure it's ready for the road. I took it for a ride and was surprised it climbed the mountain in 3rd gear with me on it, able to maintain 40 and 45km/h, more than enough power.
I didn't notice any rev limiters or restrictors when I rode it, and it felt like the bike had more than enough power for its gearing. When I took off the chainguards and looked at the sprockets I knew an upgear would be needed in the future. The bike's engine is happy at around 40 km/h, but with an upgear it should be able to run 50 km/h comfortably without revving the engine too high. I read reports online that some folks in the UK are getting up to 135 km/l on this bike when riding under 40 km/h, absolutely unbelievable.
I managed to convince her into taking a short ride up the hill for an evening photo session. These photos will also be sent to her step-grandpa in the USA who is responsible for her getting this bike. At first Srey-Yuu was unsure of this bike, but it's growing on her and people in our village are asking how many thousand dollars we spent on it, haha. We got this bike for hundreds of dollars, not thousands 😆😆😆.
Srey-Yuu would've have preferred an automatic 125cc scooter, but those bikes are so fast and have no engine braking due to the transmission style. Her SuperCub has 4 gears, and she's already learning how useful gears can be when descending the mountain pass. I think it's a great learner bike, heck, and after driving it I think it's fast enough for my riding style. I told her when she masters the fundamentals of motorcycle skills that I'll buy her a bigger bike like a 70 or 90 and then ride this beauty as my own.
Congratulations @srey-yuu, I hope you enjoy your new wheels and continue to get more and more comfortable behind the handlebars. Now we've got two SuperCubs, I've still got my 90, so the two of us can go trail-riding or practice on the road anytime you want.

I love it, in fact I'm a bit jealous. She's got the more modern bike, and I am surprised that 50cc is actually enough engine to move me as fast as I need to go.
50cc is enough, I prefer to have a casual ride. hehe.
If I were to get another bike, it might very well be a Supercub.
I saw on FB Marketplace someone in North Carolina selling some 2016 SuperCub 110s. Problem is she was asking almost $3,000 USD per bike, basically the same price as the more modern C125 and CT125 that are being sold right now in the USA.
I recommend a 1980s Honda Passport C70, they can be picked up for around $1,000 back in the USA.
I wouldn't mind a postie bike either.
I recognize that the 125s are not the originals. But, a little more power doesn't hurt.
Yeah, I have been looking at the CT110s in the USA too, rare but somewhat affordable and there are big bore kits to take the engine up in size. I have ridden the C125 and CT125s here in Cambodia, and they are more than fast enough to move along an American highway at 55 or 60 mph riding solo, some people seem to have success upgearing the sprockets a bit to help with this.
Another alternative is to find a wrecked Honda CRF110 dirtbike and do an engine swap with a postie or C70. The newer CRF110s are fuel injected, the same engine as the SuperCub 110 here in Southeast Asia. Could potentially build a DIY SuperCub 110 from a Honda Passport and a CRF110 engine for perhaps $2,500 with a lot of labor hours.

Wow, this is an old motorbike, maybe in some places it has become an antique with a high price.
It is very new, a 2016 model, fuel injected, basically no different than the 2024 model being sold here.
Yes, maybe something like that is rare in our place.

My friend, I also congratulate for your another success in your life, you have now WI-FI and that will be very easy to do posting because it always have a strong signal. And to chairwoman cat, he-he-he she always very cute and enjoying herself playing around specially on that new box.
I am always reminding her that safety is first, and I think she has a respect for the highway and the potential dangers of motorbike riding. We've had internet via 4G since we've lived here, but my old UPS died, now the new one will just allow us to offer wi-fi for a few hours even when the electricity grid is down. Funny isn't cats all over the world always love new boxes, haha.

She is younger than me and looks younger than the 15, but omg, she can ride that bike? I remember when I was eighteen years old who practiced biking but ended up on injury and wounds ‘coz it was hard to balance and I was nervous when I rode at the smooth surface. Until now at the age of 32, I don’t know how to bike Coz I’m still scared and driving is scary for me. But such a brave girl like @srey-yuu , talented and beautiful.
Your cat is funny. It’s okay if you left her at home alone ‘coz cats can survive living alone. They say they have nine lives. Maybe it’s true ‘coz I had many cats before and I can’t remember if they became sick.
Well I understand your fears and concerns, my wife never had success with motorbikes because she panics easily and also has dizziness spells. If/when our oldest daughter feels confident enough to ride solo on the roads, the two of us can be drivers and take my wife and our youngest daughter on adventures.
We are lucky to have such an independent and loyal cat. We have a vegan home and nothing here to eat for her other than seaweed potato chips that she loves. There are plenty of houses in our village with fish heads and easy meat like leftover beef and pork, but the fact she chooses to live with us and hunt for 80% of her food really touches my heart. She is a supreme hunter because of her without cat food, so I'm sure she survives well when we are gone.
That's a very nice-looking motorbike, and I can tell your daughter is quite proud of it! I'm so thrilled for her, and hope she will be safe with it. I know I ask a lot of crazy questions, but what is that little shack behind Srey-Yuu in that last photo? At first, I though it was a roadside stand where someone was selling veggies, but it looks rather shabby and doesn't look like a real person in there. Is it a BUDDHA statue, and the things on the shelf are offerings, perhaps? A roadside shrine?

Haha, you're not crazy, I put that in the background of a shot as an easter egg and/or as a curiosity. Most property owners here install a "spirit house" in the corner of the land near the road somewhere. This one is kind of a redneck version of a spirit house because the road only leads to a cell phone tower, it's owned by the cell phone company and nobody lives there. It might've looked nice years ago when they put it up, but because nobody lives near it there isn't any maintenance done. I suspect travelers and campers might occasionally make offerings there, and perhaps the odd cell phone tower service worker that uses the road.
I am so happy for Srey-Yuu's motorbike efforts. She's just gotta get her balance, braking, and shifting gears to higher skill and she'll begin to feel safer on the road. Step by step....

The movement of this cab is amazing. Thank you very much for providing us with some important information about all the tools. God is always great. I really liked Srey-Yuu's cab which is a joy to visit roadside. I always pray for all of you to my Lord.

I think that's a portion of it, also she's a bit lazy and it's harder to be the driver than the passenger. My biggest concern is that the girl that takes her to school may quit randomly one day and start working at the casino, then my daughter will be without a ride to school every day.
