The Road So Far: Wins And Lessons

Three years ago, a life-changing journey started—my life-changing journey. Before I joined Hive, I had been hearing many things about the crypto world in general. Web 2, Web 3, and all strings attached to them, but never interested me. Of course, I knew about them from afar but it was just like I was looking at a different world filled with skepticism and indifference. Before I joined Hive, the opportunity to join the moving train never really presented itself. I wasn't helping matters because I myself wasn't even interested. In June 2022, I had just survived a difficult situation. I was numb and needed something or someone to pull me out of my numbness. I needed to do something with my hands. Something that would take my mind off the difficulties of life. Luckily and interestingly, Hive came through for me. My Web3 journey started with Hive and on Hive.
I was surprised when I was told that I could make something from blogging on Hive. The main reason I joined Hive was that I wanted to blog. The goal was to use blogging as a form of escape. So, I joined and discovered a whole lot of other things. This brings me to the sci-fi prompt for this week. For this week, the community asks us to discuss our web3 journey so far. We all have different stories to tell. From how we got to know about the web3 world, to the hiccups we have had that made us almost give up, and then we have the small wins and the big and memorable ones. As I mentioned above, my web3 hornet started with and on Hive.
Like many people, before I joined Hive, I had misconceptions. Anyone who doesn’t know about web3 would think it is a waste of time and that it is a place for scammers and I was no exception. Before I joined Hive, I knew only a few things about crypto, and I considered it a sham game. I also saw it as a waste of time. You know, something not worth putting time into. Back to when I joined Hive, I didn’t know anything about web3, although I had been seeing things about it on social media platforms like Twitter. Hive came and brought a lot of golden opportunities to my doorstep. I remember when I joined Hive, everything seemed different. I came with the sole idea to express myself through words, but everything seemed different and complex. Hive power, HBD, power down, communities, front ends, and transparency, were words I found difficult to grasp. However, with time, slowly and steadily, I learnt my way.
Thanks to Hive (the Web 3 world), I have been able to do the thing I love—writing and expressing myself through words. I have also learnt how to be consistent with it. I am a book lover. I have been an avid book lover all my life. I discovered that I can share my love for books with friends and fellow book lovers. Books are one of the reasons I’m so interested in Hive and I’m glad there’s an aspect of Hive that permits me to share about books. From talking about books, to sharing movie reviews and participating in prompts, Hive has helped my writing skills in general, and I’m super glad about that.
Hive has also helped me grow. Firstly, as a human being. Secondly, it has opened my eyes to different perspectives on various topics. Lastly, Hive has helped me grow financially. Reading posts from other people, particularly book reviews and prompts, has never been so enlightening. Sometimes, I go, "Wow, this person is so knowledgeable about this particular topic. I never knew this until now." My Web3 journey has been a rollercoaster of activities so far, and I'm curious to know how far it will take me.
