Saturday Hive Chess S1R5 Review: Knighthammer 7, The Tenacious One

Hello, everyone. Today, we played round 5 of the Hive Chess weekly tournament. Compared to last week, I think I played better. I blundered a few games, but I still managed to win some. I got paired with higher-rated players. My first 5 games felt like a massacre. I felt like a sheep thrown into a den of wolves. One beautiful thing about chess is that the more you play, the stronger you become. I'd like to use this opportunity to encourage and applaud Knighthammer7. I don't know their username on Hive, so I would have tagged them if I did. Every tournament, this person shows up and never leaves until the end, despite facing massive defeats from left and right. In terms of chess Elo, they're the weakest player. Last week, their rating was about 700. Imagine a 700 Elo player going up against a +2000 rated player. Still, they keep playing every day and gradually getting better.

@JUSTOLA1 VS JUSTFAVOUR

I got paired with Olamide twice and I lost both games. I spent a lot of time calculating my moves and when I finally realized that I didn't have the luxury of time anymore, I started playing too fast. Unfortunately, I blundered an official. Justola and I were careful with our games. It felt like we didn't make any blunders, but when I requested a computer analysis, I made so many blunders. He made 3 while I made 5

@Tangible_ay VS @Jaki01

Both players are strong (2000+). At the time they played their second game, Jaki was rated 2214 while Tangible_ay was rated 2219. No big difference, right? Both players played well, but Jaki lost because he beserked. They got paired twice, Jaki was close to winning but he blundered because he was short on time.

STUFFINGS VS MANFROMSPAIN

This game impressed me. IM stuffings traded a bishop for a pawn (giving Magnus Carlsen vibe) and still managed to win the game. His opponent played well, but he played better.

I also would like to encourage @dadapizza (Knighthammer7) . I've been shut out in some tournaments but the hardest thing for me are the many blunders :).

Hahaha I appreciate the shout-out! I don't get phased by the losses much, there's a lot harder things in life to deal with than losing some chess matches! It's all for fun at the end of the day. I just enjoy the challenge and try to laugh through my blunders! Thank you I will keep at it!
