My favorite Innovation Runs On Rails

Decades ago, technology wasn't as advanced as it is now. Human beings survived using traditional methods. Innovations began during the Modern Era—the mid 20th century. Before the modern era, humanity was in darkness. Take warfare as a case study. Before the development of firearms, human beings had to be in close contact to harm each other, by making use of weapons like bows and arrows, knives, swords and other crude weapons. The health sector was also primitive. There were no modern drugs or vaccines, talk less equipment. Human beings treated wounds and injury with roots and herbs, which were to some extent effective. It is surprising how the early men survived without the drugs we have today. Although they did, I'm sure it would have been way better if they had access to the kind of healthcare we have today.

With the advent of modernity, innovations came flowing in. The modern era brought in innovations that made human lives easier and better, in different areas; healthcare, agriculture, science, and even warfare. Instead of using traditional weapons like knives, bows and arrows, to fight wars, human beings invented weapons like guns and bombs. I mentioned above that before innovations started coming in, human beings had to be in close range with their enemies before they could cause harm. But the invention of guns and bombs changed this narrative. Modernity also brought in innovations like drugs (penicillin), postpill, and other useful innovations that have made life easier.

From the modern Era till now, humanity has gained more knowledge on different things. We are in the 21st century where people keep developing things every day. Even kids in elementary school are now developing different useful gadgets. Yesterday, I came across a reel on Instagram of a Nigerian who created a Cybertruck from scratch. In China and all over the world, there are many talented people who keep inventing things. From different brands of cars, to phones, televisions and PlayStation, and so many other cool ones, there's a long list to choose from. For today’s prompt, the Sci-Fi Multiverse community asks us what our favorite innovation is.

As I mentioned, there is a very long list to pick from. However, when it comes to my favorite innovation the first thing on my list has to be trains. I read that trains were invented in the early 19th century by Richard Trevithick who invented the first ever train in 1804. Of course, the first invention wasn't perfect and wasn't as advanced as the ones we have today. Trains amaze me. I love everything about them. From the sounds they make when the wheels connect with the rails. I also love the way the honk at every train station.

The first time I rode a train was when I was in high school. My mom and I often visited my grandmother in another state and to get there, we had to go through a train. Well, we could go by other methods, but my mom prefered trains. A very great choice. I remember that day like it happened yesterday. My mom, older brother and I got to the train station where we got the tickets. Soon enough, the train arrived and we all rushed in to find seats. The journey, although it took a long, was one of the best journeys I have ever experienced. There, you meet people from different backgrounds—the funny ones who would crack jokes and couldn't stop talking, the ones who brought cool items and the ones who slept throughout the journey.

The train would stop at every station, giving us time to get off and buy what we wanted. However, we had to do it quickly because the train would depart at any moment. Before leaving, it would honk. It's been ages since I last rode one, and I hope I can do that again soon.

I remember penicillin. Oh my! That drug is so effective oo. It was what we used on our wounds and it would relieve us before the next day. It worked like magic.
Trains..trains...trains...someday, I would experience the feeling. I want to try it out and enjoy the ride. Great innovations.

This is indeed great. Trains is very good, just that is not benefitial to many country. Most especially Nigeria is one of the country that don't enjoy this right now. I wish that we will enjoy it like those days.

Hmmm!, The train is also one of the best innovations, but it's just so sad that the Nigerian government isn't making good use of this innovation. We don't have the modern trains in this country and the old ones aren't working

I made use of train transportation in my university last year, travelling to and fro. It's an amazing invention really, I thought I was a weird one to think I like the honk 😅
The conversations I listened to in all my train movements, I still remember them and laugh lol.
