My App Phases

This week’s India United prompt is about our most-used application. Which application do you spend most of your time on? My most used application keeps changing depending on the moment I am in. Different times in my life require different applications, so no single app stays for too long. One moment, one app becomes my best friend, and the next, another app takes its place. It has always been like that for as long as I can remember. For example, in 2020, during the lockdown, my most-used app was YouTube. I had access to unlimited data and I had all the free time in the world to do whatever I wanted.
School was on break and everyone was locked up in their rooms. I was free to watch whatever I wanted all day, which was exactly what I did. As long as I was done with my chores for the day, I was free to stay glued to my cell phone from morning till night. YouTube became my go-to app. I could stay all day indoors watching Greek myths. I was moving at my own place from one video to another. I stopped using other applications and it was as if YouTube completely replaced them all.
Over the past decade, my most-used app has changed multiple times. During my high school days, it was Facebook and when I graduated from high school, WhatsApp replaced Facebook. I feel the app that has stayed the longest has to be Discord. In 2022, when I joined Hive. My onboarder told me I would have to download Discord. Before that time, I didn't know the app existed. I joined many communities on Discord and out of all these communities, one of them has shaped my life in ways I never imagined. I spent almost all day in Neoxian City. I have been a consistent member for about 2 years now. There was a time I stopped using other social media platforms and focused solely on Discord.
Times have changed. Right now, my most used apps are YouTube and the ChatGPT app. A year ago, if you had asked me what my favorite app was, I would not have mentioned either of them. In fact, I did not even have these apps on my phone back then. I started a project that requires deep research and interestingly, the Chat GPT app comes in handy. I am not sure if I want to go into details about what the project is about, but what I can share is that it also requires me to spend a lot of hours on YouTube.
Thanks for reading.

STOPI wasn’t used to Discord then, too and it wasn’t even something I knew ever existed until I came to know about Hive. Although, I used it a few times in 2020 but didn’t understand a bit of it. It was an app so difficult that I almost deleted off my phone but I didn’t.
ChatGPT is now my go-to app these days, especially when I need answers to some spiritual questions and it’s almost an addicted app. Yes, YouTube, too. I barely spend an hour each day without checking YouTube.
