Faster Than The Shadow

Science has helped humanity in many aspects, from developing drugs and vaccines to combating infections and deadly diseases. Centuries ago, the early men made use of herbs, roots, and other traditional methods to combat illnesses. While these methods were effective to some extent, they were not without flaws. I wonder how we would be living if there were no drugs. For instance, if there were no malaria drugs, would we go into the bushes to start looking for herbs and roots? Science has developed so much over the decades. However, as each year passes by, we are starting to see the dark side of science. There’s no doubt that the importance of science in our lives cannot be overlooked, however, over the years, science seems like a double-edged sword. On one side are the advantages that have helped transform our lives, on the other hand, there are the negative parts that are slowly creeping in.
For today’s topic, the Hive Learners’ community asks us to discuss the complexities of science. Is there a part of science that you don’t agree with? Taking a closer look at the speed at which science is evolving, do you think we are taking things too far? Recently, I watched a video on Instagram that gave me mixed feelings. At first, I felt amazed at what science can achieve and how far we have come. But after thinking deeply, I became deeply unsettled. A content creator and scientist was experimenting with what seemed like animal hybridization—combining the genetics of two animals, like a slot and a rabbit, and putting the result into an egg to be hatched days or months later. He tried it with different animals. While this might seem fascinating, it is quite disturbing.
This is one of those scientific leaps I personally don’t agree with. Firstly, I don’t think it is in our place to genetically create animals. Our creator has made enough already, making new ones scientifically seems unnecessary and dangerous. Secondly and more importantly, after creating these animals, the guy releases them into the wild. I can’t be the only person who finds this concerning. Imagine creating a genetic hybridization between two animals (of course, they have to be closely related to provide offspring) and then releasing them into the wild? What if they come back to hunt us? What if they threaten other species? There are just so many questions to consider. With science, we can achieve so many things, but we should know when to draw the line.
Moving on, another scientific leap I personally don’t agree with is the creation of nuclear weapons and other deadly weapons. Before science and technology improved, human beings battled using “simple” weapons. Before the First World War, before you could take out an enemy, you had to be in close proximity. People battled using swords, knives, axes, and so on. However, with the advent of modernity, human beings started to create deadly weapons popularly called “Fire and Forget” during the World Wars. As the name implies, you don’t have to get close to your enemy. With drones, bombs, and other machines, all you have to do is press a few buttons to destroy your enemy. Did you know that an estimate of 97 people sided during the First and Second World Wars? And to think science wasn’t as advanced as it is today.
Today, science has reached a whole new level with the creation of deadly gases, nuclear weapons, and other weapons. Take a look at the war that is going on between Iran and Israel. The brutality of science can be seen in how easily it is to destroy properties and take lives. I understand that weapons are necessary to maintain peace and order. However, it seems we have crossed the line.

That is just the truth. Science has brought to us so many good things, yet taken a lot from us which is presently destroying people in the world.
But I must confess that it is just that humans are addicted to doing evil, if not so we are meant to benefit more from science and not the other way round.
Thanks for sharing
Exactly, science is good but the evil of men is changing it to another thing
Most scientists try to test the process of combining genes of two animals to create a hybrid and I believe they do this so that some of these animals don’t go extinct. But it really doesn’t make sense to me.

Science has managed to develop medicines and medical innovations that have saved lives. However, it is that same desire to exceed limits that makes it dangerous for humanity.
For example, a few months ago they managed to bring two or three specimens of the giant wolf or dire wolf to life, through genetic engineering.
Could it be that the movie Jurassic Park didn't teach these scientists and the companies that pay them anything?

You have said it all , Science is good and at the same time dangerous to our world. Recently I saw on social media where a guy marry a robot , I don't know if it's real but in the picture the man was wearing suit and the reboot wear wedding gown and people were sitting down like they are really having a wedding ceremony. We are doing so many things with science that even the creator will not be happy with.
