Yeah, we always do here, and I like to make a lot of things from scratch. We rarely eat out or pre-made food. In fact, I don't thing we have ever had anything pre-made in this house.

You must be feeling pretty healthy. Wish I will be able to say that.

I live in Venezuela, so fresh food is more common than over processed food.

Also we live on the outside of the city.

So that's a kinda positive side effect of inconvenience 😅 the easy thing to do is not fast food but cook at home.

And besides, at home we all are pretty good cooks, that helps

Haha, that's a problem I wish I had

so fresh food is more common than over processed food.

The opposite for me. Junk is cheaper haha

Here it looked like junk food was starting to be cheaper and more available for a while, and imported canned products started appearing, but people didn't buy them much so it went back to fresh being cheaper.

I hope it never changes. Eating healthy shouldn't be a treat.

Some products are too expensive, but there are other options still

That right there is a community deciding what they want. Some just get easily influenced by adverts and the masses suffers

Yeah. Also when we end up living to work instead of working to live, convenience ends up winning over health, to the point it's not a personal decision anymore but corporations make the decision for you, because they want people available to make them money

OMG that's a good point

Yeah. I have friends living in the US, they were used to eat like we do here, but they say that it's not only the price, but the availability. The healthiest option is frozen veggies, but of course not all the veggies are available or even taste good that way.

Who makes it available. The government or the people in the food industry. Probably more profitable and convenient for them to make junk available.

This has many heads. You get 30 minutes lunches so how long can you be waiting in a good restaurant at the same time as everyone else? Do you have enough money for a good food in a restaurant every lunch? So fast food it is.

Now you choose to cook at home because you don't want fast food. How long does it take to go to work? and to get back home? from what I've heard from USA bc I've never been there, it's pretty common to be stuck in traffic, personal cars are more used than public transportation so there is going to be a hell of a traffic. That and that many jobs expect you to be there extra time or be available for calls outside of working hours.

When will you buy food? when will you prepare it? Here you start using the pre-made stuff, cans, chicken nuggets instead of preparing and seasoning a good meal with chicken, you need things that will last in the pantry because you can't be buying all the time.

Many people benefit from the system being that broke.

I wish I didn't 😅

That's why I don't like all the "just eat healthy" influencers, it is not that simple. Most people would if it was the easiest option, and it should be.

Also the US has seasons with very harsh effects, especially winter, so, unless you are in a productive, warmer area, everything is imported. The US is so big the food gets treated the same way as if was traveling internationally.

Here in Venezuela it is 100% the government and military fault when we don't get fresh items. Over there it's more than that

I try to do as much of that as I can. Currently I'm single and also working so it sometimes gets hard to prepare all 3 of them
