Right or Left? The Search for the Rock Formation...

(Edited)

One random afternoon last year (2022, yeah! It was still pandemic time), me and 2 of my friends, which basically lives 3 houses away, decided to go somewhere in Bulacan. We wanted to go to a little rock formation which was located at the beach of the barangay. It is quite a famous spot for the locals. I have always heard everyone in high school talked about it but never really got a chance to go there. I really wanted to go there for a while now. This little adventure was a realization of what I wanted to do for a long time.

The three of us did not really know where exactly it was located. We just knew it was somewhere in Bulacan. With our confidence and hunch where it was, we decided to go to the barangay and just wing it. As it was not as near, we rode a multicab to get to Bulacan. We confidently stop somewhere we were familiar, not really knowing if we were near or far from the place we wanted to be. As we got there, the only thing we decided to ask to a local was where was the way to the beach, not mentioning the rock formation. As I look back now, I think the local may have found us a little weird. The introvert in us really prevailed. I don't know if we were just really bored or what but we still continued. After that, we walked where the local pointed us at. But the thing was, as we were walking there, what we see were coconut trees but not like the coconut trees you usually see on the beach. It feels like we were on a coconut farmland. Then and there, we knew we were on the wrong spot.

As we near the shore, the area where we are was filled with mangroves which hinted that we really are lost. After realizing that, we just go for it and took pictures. The mangroves looked so good to ignore and not take pictures with. While the spot in front of the mangroves looked like we are in an island, which in reality, we were not.

After an hour or two, we decided to find the main reason why we were there, the rock formation. We walk along the beach hoping that somehow, we would be in the rock formation. The shoreline in this area was filled with mangroves, which makes it hard to see if we are going the correct path. again, we were just guessing and just winging it. As we were walking, I was losing hope but somehow positive. It took 10- 20 minutes of walking before we found the end of the mangrove area. At the end of it was a reef area, which luckily, we can just walk through because it was low tide. From there, we can finally see where we need to go and as simple as it may sound, it made us happy.

We may see the rock formation but it was still a long walk. it took us another 2-3 minutes. As we were walking for a long time now, I was already exhausted. So, imagine the relief and happiness when we finally arrived? A little TMI, it was the wrong side of the rock formation we were taking pictures. The other side was the spot where everyone was taking photos. But nonetheless, still beautiful.

When we finally got there, we got to the main reason why we went there, to take pictures. By taking pictures, means I am the photographer for my friends which means, I do not have a picture in the rock formation, just a little selfie in which you cannot see my face (as a shy type) 😁.

After all that walking, that was not even half of the walking we were doing. Because it took us a little while to find the spot, it was already past 5 when we got to the highway which means no multicab or other means of transportation. But luckily, halfway through walking, a side car (another means of transportation in our area) appeared. We still got lucky, can you believe that? 😂

At the end of a long and exhausting day, doing our little adventure made me realize that sometimes, it’s fine if you are lost because that may be the greatest adventure of your life.
