Welcome my dear military travelers of the internet and thank you very much for having made a temporary stop in my post, it is no secret to anyone that Koreans are very good with special effects something that is denoted in everything that has a zombie theme, that is why when I read the synopsis of "Newtopia" I knew immediately that it was a mandatory appointment. Without further ado, get ready to survive in a world plagued by the undead, because we are about to begin.
Bienvenidos mis queridos viajeros militares del internet y muchas gracias por haber hecho una parada temporal en mi post, para nadie es un secreto que los coreanos son muy buenos con los efectos especiales algo que se denota de sobremanera en todo lo que tenga temática de zombies, es por ello que cuando leí la sinopsis de "Newtopia" supe de inmediato que era una cita obligatoria. Sin más que agregar prepárense para sobrevivir en un mundo plagado de no muertos pues estamos por comenzar.
Newtopia is a series released this year, directed by Yoon Sung-hyun, produced by Bound Entertainment and Billions Plus, it has a single season of 8 episodes of approximately 50 minutes in length. It is a zombie and romance series, the story focuses on a young couple who have problems because Jae-yoon is paying for mandatory military service, which is why his girlfriend considers breaking up with him, however, during all this romantic drama they must face a zombie outbreak which generates real chaos in the city, each one must survive on their own while they fight to find each other again.
Newtopia es una serie estrenada este año, dirigida por Yoon Sung-hyun, producida por Bound Entertainment y Billions Plus, cuenta con una única temporada de 8 capítulos de 50 minutos aproximadamente de duración. Es una serie de zombies y romance, la historia se centra en una joven pareja la cual tiene problemas debido a que Jae-yoon se encuentra pagando el servicio militar obligatorio, razón por la que su novia considera terminar con él, no obstante, durante todo este drama romántico se deben enfrentar a un brote zombie el cual genera un verdadero caos en la ciudad, debiendo sobrevivir cada uno por su cuenta mientras luchan por reencontrarse.

The soundtrack is well within what it goes, it doesn't really have much mystery or merit, so it ends up being a section that passes without pain or glory.

La construcción de mundo es extraña, por una parte, resulta curiosa la forma en que se denota como la ciudad comienza a deteriorarse de forma progresiva producto de esta crisis, sin embargo, a nivel de mundo se siente muy vacío al faltarle ese factor que demuestre que la sociedad y el orden están al punto del colapso, lo anterior se debe a que le faltan escenas de anarquía que reflejen lo antes mencionado, para una serie que se enfoca en un apocalipsis zombi le falta reflejar de mejor forma esa parte desastrosa. Algo a destacar es que los efectos luce muy bien, en general, es un apartado en el que los productos procedentes de corea se destacan.
The plot feels careless and seems like a strange and meaningless mixture on more than one occasion, all the product of including moments that do not carry anywhere and that are a nonsense. Narratively is very chaotic, on many occasions it does not know how to maintain the seriousness that kills moments of tension with stupid comedy that clashes in a very bad way, however, it is necessary to highlight that there are scenes that are very well achieved as a result of the fact that they have a very good balance between intrigue and action, on the other hand, there are romantic scenes or memories which feel absolutely forced and do not really contribute anything, more than half of those scenes They could be eliminated and would not affect the understanding of the series, being also that they feel like absolute meaning that makes the series tedious to see, causing their 8 chapters to become quite boring on not a few occasions.
La trama se siente descuidada y parece una mezcla extraña y sin sentido en más de una ocasión, todo producto de incluir momentos que no llevan a ningún lado y que son un despropósito. Narrativamente es muy caótica, en muchas ocasiones no sabe mantener la seriedad producto de que mata momentos de tensión con comedia estúpida que desentona de muy mala forma, sin embargo, es menester destacar que existen escenas que están muy bien logradas producto de que tienen un muy buen balance entre intriga y acción, por otro lado, están las escenas románticas o recuerdos los cuales se sienten absolutamente forzados y no aportan realmente nada, más de la mitad de esas escenas podrían eliminarse y no afectaría en nada a la comprensión de la serie, siendo además que estos se sienten como un sin sentido absoluto que hace a la serie tediosa de ver, haciendo que de sus 8 capítulos se vuelvan bastante aburridos en no pocas ocasiones.

It feels like a cheap attempt to produce sympathy and shame for them. The protagonists are completely inconsequential and unknown, the data that are given about these are scarce and only some details are given about their relationship and others, however, their individual exploration is void which makes it impossible to become fond of these since they have the same unfortunate characterization as the rest.
Este es sin lugar a dudas el apartado con peor trabajo en su haber, todos los personajes son completamente olvidables y carecen de elementos que les den alguna clase de caracterización y que permita al espectador encariñarse con ellos, la mejor evidencia de lo anterior es cuando a uno de los personajes, que paso mayor tiempo en pantalla, es mordido y solamente en esa situación fue que a último momento se revela que tenía una relación mentor-aprendiz con otro personaje, algo que no se anticipó de ninguna forma por lo que se siente como un intento barato por producir simpatía y lastima por estos. Los protagonistas son completamente intrascendentes y desconocidos, los datos que se dan sobre estos son escasos y únicamente se dan algunos detalles sobre su relación y demás, no obstante, la exploración individual de ellos es nula lo que hace que sea imposible encariñarse con estos puesto que tienen la misma lamentable caracterización que el resto.
Newtopia is a series that is like a stopped clock, mostly it gives the time badly but when it is right it is very comforting, its romance and comedy scenes leave much to be desired and the fact that you are have a considerable presence only removes merit to the series. It is for all the above that it deserves 1.5 stars of 7, it has some excellent moments where it stands out for very wonderful scenes of action and suspense, unfortunately they are a minority overshadowed by several non -value nonsense, it is a difficult series to see for the countless failures it has but if you can endure those shortcomings can see some scenes that are really worth it.
Newtopia es una serie que es como un reloj parado, mayormente da la hora mal pero cuando acierta es muy reconfortante, sus escenas de romance y comedia dejan mucho que desear y el hecho de que estás tengan una presencia considerable solo le quita merito a la serie. Es por todo lo anterior que merece 1.5 estrellas de 7, tiene algunos momentos excelentes en dónde destaca por escenas muy maravillosas de acción y suspenso, lamentablemente las mismas son una minoría opacada por tonterías varias sin valor, es una serie difícil de ver por los incontables fallos que tiene pero si pueden aguantarse esas carencias podrán ver algunas escenas que de verdad valen la pena.
