To A Friend I Love

Greetings to you all. I'm @joyben, and it's my first time making a post in this community. I hope I'm welcome.

I discovered this community yesterday, while I was looking for a certain community to make a post.

So I thought as much, to share my poem here today, and I know you will like it.

This morning, I want to share my non-fictional work with you. It's a poem written by me.

I wrote this poem earlier this morning, and it's an English sonnet, consisting of fourteen (14) lines.

It comprises Three(3) quatrains and two(2) couplets.

About The Poem

The poem "To A Friend I Love" is a non-fictional work. It's about my girlfriend, whose name is Esther.

She's so beautiful and intelligent. She's always ready to give up what she has for others.

When I got admitted newly into college, I didn't know anything about college, and I didn't know the right person to approach for help.

I wasn't a talking type, so I kept quiet and remained in the queue while the screening was ongoing.

So while I was still there, she came around and started smiling at me as if she knew me somewhere.

I smiled back at her. As God may have it, we began to have a conversation with each other.

And I discovered we were coursemates. She told me everything I needed to do, and I did as she asked me to do.

Since then, we became friends. She taught me how to love unconditionally.

The love she showed me was something I didn't understand. Before, I used to believe that true love doesn't exist, but now I can't say that because I've thirsted for it.

That's why I decided to write this mind-blowing poem to her because my love for her keeps sparkling every day.

The poem

To a friend I love,
Your love controls the deepest part of my heart,
Your smiles keep reminding me of who I've decided to love,
Indeed you hold a special place in my heart.

More than a thousand friends you are to me,
My love for you cannot be measured by anything,
Knowing you for three years now has made me be me,
Your understanding and care surpass everything.

The world would have been so lonely without you my love,
And if not for you I wouldn't have known what true love looks like,
Let nothing come in between our love,
Let's continue doing what we like.

Let's keep this fire of love burning in us,
Let everyone who wishes to love learn from us.
