Technology ( Making Life Easier)

Last week, I taught my students a topic in computer studies Digital Divide. Under the sub-topic, we discussed technology and how it affects the lives of people today. I made it an open discussion class so everyone could freely share their thoughts, and they all gave wonderful and meaningful responses.

Of a truth, technology has really made life easier. I remember how simple things used to be, and yet how much effort people had to put into some tasks before completing them. Today, everything is different because technology has become a part of almost everything we do. In our homes, at workplace, in school, in hospital and many places, there is always one device or tool helping us to make things easier. This makes me see technology not as something complicated, but as something that helps and support us every day. When we take a close look at the things around us like the few a mentioned above, it's clear that technology has made life easier in so many ways.

Technology has affected every area of life. It has affected our communication with people. Today, with just a phone, I can talk to a friend in another state or country within seconds. This is very different from the past when sending a message could take days before it reached the receiver. Now we have apps like WhatsApp, email, and video calls, which act as bridges that keep people connected no matter the distance.

Technology has also made learning easier. Anyone can now watch a lesson on YouTube, join an online class, or read about any topic of their choice with just few clicks. Learning is no longer limited to the classroom, it has become something we can do anywhere, at home, in school, or even during our leisure time.
In education, technology has changed the way we learn. I remember back in school, my lecturers usually conduct classes online especially during the COVID-19 period, learning materials became available on different platforms, and many courses today can be studied from the comfort of our homes.
It has also improved the health system by making tasks easier and faster. Transportation has been transformed too, making movement from one place to another easier and more comfortable for people.

Even in our workplaces today. Many jobs that once required long hours can now be completed faster and with less stress. There is computers that help people type documents easily, store information, and finish tasks that would take much longer by hand.
Technology has also created new opportunities. People can now work from home, start online businesses, or even earn money through social media, writing, videos, digital services and doing contents. Opportunities that were once limited are now available to anyone with a phone or computer and an internet connection. This has really helped many people support themselves in ways that were impossible years ago.

However, making life easier does not mean life has become perfect. Technology still has its own challenges and negative sides. One major negative side I always talk about technology is the increase in fraudulent activities by scammers. Technology has made it easier for people involved in scams to reach their victims easily. Today, they use the same technological tools that help people to deceive others. The rate of fraudulent activities is increasing daily and what those scammers used are technology tools.
So while technology is an advantage, it can also become a disadvantage when used in the wrong way.

In all, technology I say, has touched every part of life and made life easier even though it has its drawbacks. Its positive impact is far greater. And as we continue to use it, the goal is to apply it wisely so that we can enjoy its benefits and avoid its dangers.
