Hello everyone!! Welcome to another exciting episode of the hive reachout weekly prompt 46 with this week's topic tagged "What You are Thankful for so far this Year"

When I saw this week's topic, I seat down and reflect deeply on my life and discovered that I have a lot of things to be thankful for especially for being alive. I really appreciate God for the gift of life. Different events occurred this year, some of which affected my life positively and negatively but in everything, I remain grateful.

I escaped accident twice. The first occurred when I was traveling home from Makurdi, Benue State to Nasarawa with some of my school mates. The driver that took us was on high speed on the high way. As we were coming with speed, a vehicle came out from a junction straight into the high way without observing if there was any incoming vehicle approaching.
Lucky for us, our driver was able to hit the brakes immediately and control the steering wheel. Even at that, our vehicle still had a head to side collision with the other vehicle because we were coming on a high speed.
The breaks couldn't stop us from hitting other vehicle but it could have been worse if our driver had not observed the vehicle coming. Only a few injuries were sustained especially from the other vehicle that entered the road with observing.

The second incident occured when I was travelling from Nasarawa to Abuja. There are two lanes of road for vehicles that are going and the other for vehicles that are coming but that time I was traveling, one lane was under maintenance and for that reason, it was close. All vehicles going and coming use one road. The driver that took us was on a high speed trying to meet up with time. We get to a point where he wanted to overtake a truck at his front but did not watch out properly for the vehicle coming from the other side. As soon as he went for the overtake, the vehicle coming from the other side sighted him and immediately made a quick turn away from the road to the bush. That was how we got saved, otherwise we would have had a head to head collision.

When I think about what could have happened, I cannot help but thank God for His protection and mercy. Truth is, many people face accidents and did not make it, but I was given another chance at life twice. These experiences made me realize how fragile life can be and how important it is to appreciate every single day we wake up.

Another thing I'm thankful for is the successful completion of my NYSC (National Youth Service Corps) program. Serving my country for one full year was not easy, it came with its challenges, but in the end, I made it through. I met new people who became my second family and had amazing experiences. There were days I felt tired, discouraged and wanted to give up especially with the nature of how the environment was, the water challenge, network challenge, electricity challenge and so on, but I kept pushing further.

I’m happy to have completed it successfully. Many graduate went for the service but didn't finish with us, we lost some friends while they were going to camp, some were under extension but I finished successfully.

This year also brought something new and unexpected into my life, my discovery of the Hive Web3 platform. Thanks to my mentor @ovey10!

At first, I didnt know much about it, but as I got involved, I realized how much it could help me grow. I began writing posts on the platform and slowly started gaining confidence in my writing.

To be honest, the first motive I had for the platform was it's reward but as I began to get acquainted with the platform, I discovered it's beyond just the reward, it's a place where you learn new things everyday, you get motivated, encourage and build yourself.

Before now, I never imagined I could actually seat and craft or write something meaningful. I used to doubt myself a lot, thinking that writing was only for a few talented people and that I might be writing something meaningless. But the support, motivation and feedback I received on the platform changed the mindset I have.

I found a community of writers, music, art/sketch and creators who were encouraging and kind and for this I'm really thankful.

This year has taught me many lessons. I've learned the importance of being thankful in all things, both big or small. Being saved from accidents, completing my NYSC and discovering Hive platform and many more showed me that life is precious and should not be taken for granted, not every one might have second chances, sometimes the things we think we are not good at may actually be a talents hidden within us waiting to be developed and also with patience and commitment, I can achieve my goals.
