PhotoFeed Contest - Street Photography Round 148 | Don't mess with the saints

In Latin American countries, particularly those in the Caribbean region, there is a characteristic form of “popular religiosity” that mixes Christian (Spanish Catholic), indigenous, and African elements without any rules. Thus, various beliefs have proliferated for many years (for example, those of María Lionza or the Indian Guaicaipuro). Later, the figure of José Gregorio Hernández (now canonized) has coexisted with that of so-called “saintly thugs,” who are prayed to by certain residents. In the two photos I show, taken at a place dedicated to these practices, we can see part of this.

In the title, I wanted to play with a popular expression from our region, which may not be fully understood.

I'll include one of the most iconic songs on this topic at the end, in case you're interested.
