KISS BLOG IDEAS: WEEK #181 (Oct 11 - 17) | Three purposes

Sometimes we live without setting or being conscious of priorities in our lives. I have wondered if this is not the closest way to a free, open life, close to the Taoist or Zen attitude that I am attracted to. For most of my long life, I believe I have lived without setting a specific number of priorities, at least from my inner motivation.

However, practical life, subject to instrumental rationality, leads us to formulate this need for individual organization. And at some point, I was forced to do so, but not reduced to that administrative and material sense, which is the dominant tendency.

Hence, reviewing my deep purposes or motivations in life, I can point out three —as requested in this community's prompt— which are embedded in my daily life, without establishing separations between them.

First, to live the rest of my life harmoniously and calmly. I put this purpose first because everything else depends on it to a large extent. I know it is a difficult priority to fulfill, especially in this hectic and unnecessarily complicated world we live in. However, even in an “unstable balance,” it is essential for me to feel that I am living in tune with myself. In this sense, embracing a daily life guided by what is essential, leaving aside the superficial and superfluous, is a fundamental conscious step.

Then, I prioritize kindly sharing with loved ones (family, partner, friends). Close, intimate relationships, built on understanding and respect, but also on small pleasures. These can range from sharing a simple meal, a good wine, discussing a book or film we have enjoyed together, to taking simple trips together. This is how we nurture our healthy and rewarding close human relationships.

Finally, continuing to write poetry. Reading literature, particularly poetry, is an essential part of my life choice. This takes the form of poetic creation, which I have been doing for about 40 years. It nourishes my vision and experience of a broad, free, and rich earthly spirituality, which I try to experience daily, from waking up to going to bed at night, even if it is only writing an aphorism.

Thank you for allowing me to share these reflections. Greetings, friends of @minimalist.
