...........The Evidence Of Things Not Seen
In Hebrew 11:1, the Bible says:
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen.
This is one of the most easily understood passages in the Bible. As much as many people say, "Oh, I do not believe in God," whether you believe or not, we have all silently prayed at some point when everything seemed impossible.
It is similar to how people fight with everything they have to beat cancer or diabetes; even if the doctor's prognosis is not promising, we try to anchor our strength in faith.
Faith Is Not Alien
The truth is that everyone is predisposed to have faith, especially in things that appear unlikely.
When we hope, it means that what we want is still far away and out of reach, but we believe in the impossible despite the fact that we have not seen it.
We Plan To Succeed, but omit failure
For example, everyone says things like "I will be married in xxxx years, finished college in xxxx time", and so on. While there is evidence of work to back up our hopes, there are no certainties.
People get up, dress up, travel to the bus station, and board the bus. They do not know if their driver is drunk, but they are still confident they will arrive safely. They do not expect anything to go wrong, even though this is 50% likely.
Man-made discoveries have a tendency to fail, no matter how certain they appear, but we still plan and put our trust in things, people, and uncontrollable circumstances. This is how we have faith.
However, sometimes our faith and hope are based on the possibility of historical events repeating themselves. For example, when we wake up, we get out of bed without checking to see if we have suddenly become crippled; why is this?
That is because we walked to bed and are confident we will walk out the next day.
Repetition Brings Trust
The repetition of previous events increases confidence in the possibility of repetition. In other words, when events happen on a regular basis, we have more trust and faith that they will happen again, even if there is no logic behind it.
We believe in consistency: the likelihood of an event becoming even more probable, and this faith is sometimes supported by logic.
However, fear causes us to doubt, especially when it appears that we will be disappointed.
Take a look at the crypto market
the sentiment has shifted from trust to hope. This is because it appears that history is not repeating itself as quickly as we would like, and the feelings of happiness and belief are quickly replaced by panic and uncertainty.
In early 2024, I knew a Hive user who believed that 2024 would be the bull run year. Technically, the prediction was incorrect, and 2025 is actually the bull run year.
However, because he has been bull posting for so long, he has forgotten to look carefully, and all of his bull posting has turned into bear-posting, with no vibes of certainty anymore.
In reality, there are only two certainties in life; the rest are not guaranteed, but we can reduce uncertainty by being cautious and considering track record.
No Guarantee anywhere
Some people will say things like "leave crypto and buy gold", but what if gold becomes obsolete in the future? It is possible, but it appears unlikely because we have used it as a store of value for centuries.
The point is that no asset is 100% safe.
Crypto currently appears uncertain due to the fear of the current situation, but the moment prices look good again, people will swear that fiat money is trash (which it mostly is).
The uncertainty we see in crypto today is actually everywhere, and the reason we are transitioning from certainty to hope is that history takes time to repeat itself.
Real life is full of uncertainties; we take unimaginable risks and do unimaginable things without ever feeling unsafe, and this is because we never consider the risks.
As a risk taker, you are either certain or not, and you win or lose depending on the situation. However, faith should never be underestimated; it allows you to see things that others do not.

I agree with you 100%, nothing is safe or ever guaranteed! Life is finite, and those taxes will never stop although we wish they would. All we can do is plan and make our best educated guesses and hope the best.
Talking about a drunk bus driver... Yesterday in Chicago a plane was landing and a private jet pulled in front of them on the runway. Fortunately the pilot was able to abort the landing. You never know what can happen when walk out the door, or for that matter not leave the house...

I saw the video and it was just unimaginable. Imagine a private jet pulling up in front of already moving plane. It's a potential recipe for disaster and anything could have happens. It just shows that no matter the preparations or sense of security anything can happen. It's such a while experience, that video.
Even with the likeliest of educated guess we might even get hard done by the things we didn't cause or create. Take a look at auto immune or genetic condition. You don't get to do anything yet inherit a deadly condition
I hear you there, auto-immune stuff sucks. I have some experience with those! We can't control life, and we're probably at least 50 to 100 years off from fixing all inherited diseases. People may be essentially immortal in 100 years, editing out the genes responsible for aging. Too late for me and you though!...
Indeed, this is absolutely correct. The more the tech gets better, the more solutions we can have. However, I'm of the opinion that we might even get rarer diseases in the future. Perhaps a disease that morphs from some byproducts and all that.
It feels powerless not to have control, but then for someone like me, I have faith. It's just impossible to function for me, without it.
I understand completely! We may not have control, and never fully will. But faith to good thing to hold onto, because is rough! Something they don't always teach you as a kid!

There is no guarantee. The markets are a unforgivable place as anything can happen. It's rough but you can only do the research and hope for the best. It doesn't always work out.
