Splinterlands: Season Review (In-game & Economics)
It's been a feisty season one where I started badly, balanced my win ratio midseason, and played badly towards the end of the season. One thing is admittedly noticeable: I couldn't hit the 40-chest mark like I did last season. This time around I ended up with 34 chests, one better than 3 seasons ago. I played some very difficult games, a lot of people are beginning to incorporate the new rebellion cards into the mix, and boy, these cards are lethal.
They come with a lot of abilities for the mana and cost they have, giving them a little edge over the Choas legion generation of cards. I can attribute my low chest accumulation rate to the vaster introduction of the rebellion set day by day, and it is frustrating to play these cards.
For one, I think Splinterlands gave an unfair advantage to this generation of cards and I cannot say exactly why. On the flip side, one would have thought my 40 chest last season would mean that my rewards this season would be lesser, but no. In fact, I have 51 SPS in this reward, while having about 27 or so in my last 40-chest season reward. So for a small player like me, having more chest might not necessarily mean more reward for me. However, more chests increase your opportunity.
Unpopular opinion
I think the algorithm somehow reduces the reward in your chest when you earn more chests, then makes up for it when you have a lesser chest. Either way, the algorithm does a lot of balancing, works on your estimated account worth, and gives rewards based on the value of your cards and investments. So this means your earnings stay Within an estimated limit and never get higher or lower irrespective of how much chest you earn in a season.
One interesting thing happened. I decided to move into gold earlier than I usually do. I've done this in the past and paid dearly for it. Moving into gold without a well-leveled summoner is always a risk and sometimes it pays sometimes the consequential impact on your win rate is not worth it.
But this time I already have two summoners in level 5 and all my summoners (soulbound) are now in level 4. Nevertheless, I still lost ludicrously. Players are getting better and the money is constantly pumped into the game, so it gets competitive and now, it'll even get more competitive because the bull run is fast approaching.
On the first day in gold, I earned four gold chests and to my surprise, I got two BCX of the legendary life card THE IZIAR. I already have two, and I know that having a GFL of it will have been mind-blowing, but getting two BCX is quite good. Now I need just two cards for my IZIAR to be in level 3. I didn't get any additional ability, for level two, but the health increased significantly from 11 to 14, such a boost.
Okay, I also got 5 copies of the rate summoners Permbrook Nymph, and now I have it in level 5. Of course, this is my second soulbound summoner to get to level 5, and I'll be relishing the opportunity to get the rest to level 5. Officially I don't have any soulbound summoner in level 3 again. All of them are now level 4 and higher.
SPS.
I don't complain about my SPS, I just watch it. When it's higher, fine. When it's not, fine too. I think anyway it is, just simply accumulating it is fine by me. The delegation I've gotten from @burlarj and @aftersound is still ongoing. Thanks to them I've significantly improved my chest collection rate as well. It wouldn't have been possible without their SPS delegations.
SPT
I've also hit 60k SPT token, although it's not a lot, but it's something, I don't think I've taken time to check the tokenomics, but it's also something too.
The season begins again, and hopefully, I can try to spend more time in gold. I finished in Gold three sadly. I couldn't advance because I lost a lot of games a few hours to the end of the season. The few hours to the end of the season are always crucial to determining where one might finish.
Interested in some more of my works
you are welcome man!
If you have any player interested in joining a guild still playing Brawl in tier 2 and planning to advance to Tier 3 soon when there are enough players to brawl, please let me know.
Okay, definitely I'll let you know. I don't think I have the right resources to move up yet
there is also a spot for novice and bronze players though in case you want to join too🙂

I don't think there is a chest correlation because luck is just luck but I do agree that Rebellion does seem quite overpowered. On it's own, it's not that strong, but when things like weapons training is added, the cards just get way too powerful.
Congratulations on 60k SPS.
No, 60k SPT not SPS. it'll be a dream to have even 20k SPS.
I've not played against the weapons training ability of the rebellion cards but like you've said, combined, these cards can be strong.
sorry for the mistake. I think 60k SPT is also quite good. It will add up over time.
Greetings,
