Splinterlands: End of the season, Conclave Arcana & other Major changes.

It is the end of the splinterlands season, but this is probably not news. The biggest news is the recently concluded Conclave Arcana Presale, as well as the fact that CHAOS LEGION and the Rebellion sets have finally been relegated to WILD, and in honor of this, Splinterlands INC has made this season free for everyone who wants to play in wild.

I believe this is intended to assist former MODERN players in transitioning to WILD, particularly those who did not participate in the presale and do not intend to participate in the general sales.

Former MODERN players who primarily use CL decks are unlikely to return to modern play for some time. First, they must decide whether to spend new money or sell their old cards in order to purchase the new deck.

Why do I think it is hard?

This is because playing splinterlands is more than just buying cards; you also need to buy cards that will align with your strategy, which means looking for new generation cards that may include previous abilities and card combos that you enjoyed in CL and REBELLION.

@libertycrypto27 shares a lot of these strategies in his blog. He talks about prefering to buy individual cards first, and that's because individual cards may help you choose cards you like or want, unlike packs where you might be luck to recoup your financial investments and even make money, but you might not really get the type of cards that aligns with your strategy.

The CONCEPT OF BLOODLINE

Bloodline is another concept that players will need time to grasp, and I believe it will take a few weeks or even months before you can build a deck that can fully and actively compete.

A seasoned player understands that playing Splinterlands necessitates a combination of cards and strategies, and the release of a new set will take a long time before players can become accustomed to the new card sets.

So, I am guessing that these two weeks of Wild play will serve as a reset for players, allowing them to build a new set of strategies from scratch while gradually purchasing cards from the beginning.

For me, I think I'm happy to play this season without having to buy a wild pass. Perhaps I can earn enough SPS to purchase a wild pass for next season? I am not sure; I may not earn SPS, and if I don't, I might consider playing in SURVIVAL MODE.

If you look closely, the graphics of soulbound cards in the game have been remade to resemble the new set; I am not sure if this is just me, but the changes were unnecessary. I think the design of the set should remain, while the next conclave arcana soulbound cards can carry the design of this new set.

In the first few games of the season, I see that a lot of players were surrendering and I won a handful of games. I believe that this change may have contributed to this. You can see an image comparison of the Olivia's previous and current appearances. To be very honest, I prefer how it looked like and this new look just feels muffled..

Overall, it seems the conclave presales went well and players are begining to unveil their cards, and this is good. At the moment I'm looking at the overall general sales activities and it seems to be going on smoothly.

I am not sure when the sales will end, but if they last until September/October, the game may attract newer players who are willing to spend money on a large number of packs.

My Season's reward

I've been using Hive to pay for my participation in WILD and most of the times I'm always at net lose because I don't have enough staked SPS to at least make a profit.

So when SPS increased, I sold a little and used it to recoup some of the HIVE I had spent on WILD PASS, plus I lost an SPS delegation (thank you to the person who delegated it), which affected my glint earning, so I was not able to earn as much Glint as I had two seasons prior.

My strategy

So my strategy is to figure out how to play survival mode while also playing GUILD. It does not appear to be wise to continue playing in the wild without at least 70k staked SPS; there is no way to recoup a $2 investment for each season.

Upgrades

I earned about 42k Glints, and I got 84k overall. I made some upgrades, but there are no newer changes to any of my cards, except for my THANOLORIAN BLADE, which now has a look-out ability. Thanks to the gamification in my Guild EMP-EMPERORS, we can have 10k delegation for anyone who finishes in the top three positions.

Fortunately for me, I have been able to finish there on occasion and have used that delegation to boost my glint and SPS earnings. It is a new season; let us see how it goes.

Good job on the season! We'll see how things go in Wild this time around, I had been playing some Modern with the old Chaos cards, but now just the Wild. At least it's nice to have a free season there. I liked the old Olivia as well, some of the changes are kind of odd to me still, and there's a lot to learn. I'm with @libertycrypto27 on the strategy, it makes more sense to buy cards that you like rather that the packs.

What do you think so far? I haven't come up across any of the new cards in battle yet!

Are you still able to play in modern, I thought they've completely relegated the cards to WILD?
Yeah, it's good to have a free season, I haven't had one in a long time, and I think I'll have to see how do play survival mode rather than paying for WILD. I think it's no longer worth it at this point in time, so I'll just pass..

Yeah, anyone who has the cash can gamble on the packs, I think they might be lucky to hit a big card which they can sell for profit, or they might be unlucky, it's 50/50

I don't think many people has been able to assemble the right deck to play in modern, it's going to take a few weeks to actually do that.

I can't play modern, I don't have enough cards, especially summoners. After this season I think I'm done with wild as well, and survival is weird because of the long cool down. I started using my X bot pass again to play survival the last day of the season because the cards reset when the new season starts. I had a hard time figuring it out so I figured I might as well put the thing to use.

I'll mostly play brawls from now on, but I'm just not willing do invest more in the game at this point unless it's a card that is worth the investment. But most cards lose most of their value after a new set comes out.

thanks for the mention my friend :)
Yes my friend I have always preferred to buy cards instead of card packs and I think this is the best strategy in a tcg.
The only exception is when the estimated value of the card packs is much higher than the purchase cost.
In this case buying packs to sell the cards and buying more packs and reselling the cards in a cycle might be a good strategy

Today I bought 27 starter packs (more out of curiosity than strategy) but between the two options I will always prefer to buy the cards I like best

About Wild Pass you are right, it is a high seasonal cost and requires a good amount of staked SPS to cover it.
I started in the Wild today with XBOT, I am curious to see the results at the end of the season

I'll like to see a post where you compare the value of the cards you've bought with the initial investment cost. I think this might determine whether these new generation cards will be good, investment wise.
If I had the money, I'll be buying the packs just out of curiosity, excitement and support of the game.

I built my CL by buying packs, and it was fun. I think if money is a constraints, then we will have no choice but to buy individual cards off the market.

This is what I've discovered. I don't have enough Staked SPS anymore, so I'm thinking I'll have to start playing survival mode instead rather than paying for WILD pass. I'll like to see how your experiment goes.

Oh, you were buying the the wild pass with your own funds? It's tough to cover the costs without strong cards and alot of SPS staked.

Yeah, I was buying it with my own funds, actually I wasn't really thinking of it investment wise because I enjoyed playing the game. Unfortunately I think I have been blacklisted by the splinterlands curation team or something, because I've never gotten their support ever in my splinterlands posts.

I don't think they visit posts normally, and you should share your post on their challenge posts. I think they visit those posts to choose curation posts. All you have to do is share your post on some other social media site as well.
