Monetize Your Loneliness.

1000541419.jpg

My TV subscription recently expired, and I could not afford to renew it, so I packed it up. I was used to wearing it while doing what I was doing, and I missed having it.

Movies or television shows are one way people relax after a stressful day at work or while on vacation, and this is because we prefer to have pleasure or fun after being stressed.

However, this is not me.

It is not necessary for me to have fun after a difficult day. I can replace this with some quality sleep to recharge for the day ahead. It is not that I do not enjoy watching TV shows; I do, but if given the option, I would rather not.

However, for the sake of my family, I pay for the monthly TV show, and for the most part, it allows me to be more productive when they are not present. There are advantages and disadvantages, but the disadvantages are usually not perceived as negative.

The goal is to maximize my time, and most of the time, I do not get value for my "24" hours because I spend 2 to 3 of them binge-watching a TV show with a friend or family.

Stress is a silent killer

24 hours is usually insufficient, and attempting to compensate by sleeping less raises my blood pressure, so most of the time, decluttering the things I should do for fun is the only way to make the most of my time.

Unfortunately, I do not have enough time, and sleep cannot compensate for my "busy time." This is why I do not mind missing out on fun because I know I will have plenty of it someday.

No fun while life isn't fun

Binging on a TV series while using my mobile device feels exciting, but then I don't get to be more productive as I would want. It is the same thing as being in love, having friends over, or having family over, which is probably why I do not have many friends.

I do not have up to ten friends in real life, and most of them are not even present, so we do not talk unless something important comes up. Why?

These guys are busy trying to figure out life's bills, and even though we grew up together, their families, bills, and life responsibilities come first. Most of us hustled as teenagers but became separated as adults, and there is nothing better than sorting through your personal issues on your own.

In reality, I do not consider loneliness to be a problem; rather, I prefer loneliness when I need to brainstorm or fix something. However, most people enjoy having fun after work and doing their favorite things to escape the realities of life, but this is not the case for me.

The Storms doesn't look like it is over

2024 was chaotic, but it was rewarding in the end, and 2025 has started quickly and furiously, and things are not the same as they were.

I incurred stupidity and other real-life expenses, and having fun while having debts to pay makes me feel good. So hustling 12 to 14 hours a day nonstop makes me feel better and more confident that the effort will pay off someday.

However, as humans, we require fun times to reduce how reality affects us, and this is what gives life meaning. If you, like me, can not afford guilty pleasures, do not feel bad; you can put that time to better use.

I don't watch movies and TV series, I don't care about them. They have nothing to do with real life. The best cinema is your life and you are the director in it. In order for cinema not to be boring, you need to travel a lot, not necessarily far - but the picture needs to be changed. It's not as easy as it seems, but I'm trying.

I've never really explored, but I've traveled a few times in my life and truly they were fun and exciting. It's more fun than watching any shows

Absolutely yes, 24 hours is never enough. Most times, I used to wonder if a day is actually 48 hours, if some people will actually sleep for like 10 hours a day.
Most times life is all about our mentality, what we think actually influences how we feel, so if not having certain things around make one think that he will be bored, it's left for you to set your mind to making other things bring fun to the atmosphere.

Unfortunately we cannot extend the day but we can probably find ways to manage it. In my case, it's hardly enough, and it wasn't like that back in the day.

I read your post. One thing struck me. I am fifty years old and I can assure you that stress, if it does not kill, is harmful and ruins your health. I have had problems and I am trying to lower my stress threshold. Unfortunately, my work situation does not allow me to eliminate it, but when I am at home I can try to lower the total stress of the day.

Work definitely makes it difficult to alleviate stress, but unfortunately the bills has to be paid. Life gets harder with the monetary responsibility and we can only manage the rest time we have. I'm 32 and have had high blood pressure since my early 20s as a result of health and family stress

You hit the nail on the head, life's not fun without some fun. It may be expensive but worth it in the end.

The economic storm will settle likely sometime later this year once the tariffs all settle out. Time will tell!

Watching movies and TV shows after a hectic day are fun and can help relieve stress, but I'd rather take a rest or sleep so that I can wake up refreshed to face the next day.

Well, if you don't watch, then maybe you watch memes or funny comedy on Facebook lol, but then, sleep is better and probably more refreshing

Everyone needs some hobbies to relax. I think with the internet, you can find a lot of things to watch even without paying for it. However, it can be harder to find something that you like.

Well, you're right, everyone needs a hobby to keep busy or to relax, so yes. I agree. Sometimes it just can be too expensive

As you mentioned, I fell in love with loneliness years ago, and it was peaceful and increases my productivity as you mentioned...

So people still watch tv? mine is just for decoration, tiktok and facebook reels keeps my company more and they don't slow down my productivity in anyway.

I don't know if it's normal but having fun in most cases makes me feel guilty. I mean, I have a work to do even though I may need some rest in between work, I'll rather just sit with my thoughts than watch a TV series or something along those lines. I think definitely there are times to have fun, especially when one is stressed to the point it's affecting one's health.

I mostly do fun just to alleviate stressed. The past two years have been seriously stressing for me and they mostly tell on my blood pressure.
But, I can't afford them, I just do it because of the family.
