Frugality is not a disease.

These were some of my lifestyle photos shots done with my Samsung A72 in 2022

I saw a video of a footballer yesterday; he was wearing torn boxer shorts, which someone filmed and posted online.

I do not really understand the reason for the video, but I want to believe that the person who made it wanted to pass a message like "even with all the money, this person still has a torn underwear".

Personally, I do not believe the person intended to wear torn underwear; perhaps wear and tear occurred while playing football, and the underwear was still on when the person took the video of the footballer.

Football money feels like "money wishes" from a genie

Understandably, football is one of the world's top ten most lucrative careers. Some of these guys make a lot of money, and if it is properly invested, it can last until the third generation, especially if their careers last 15 to 20 years.

The illusion of this stinking wealth is why people expect them to spend a lot of money.

Although more than 80% of footballers are wasteful, you see them buying exotic and rare cars that will most likely lose value in 10 to 15 years, spending money on things they shouldn't, and using social media to demonstrate their wealth, so everyone expects them all to be wasteful.

Many of them are.

When the money is so much, we expect unusual financial attitudes

We expect them to change their iPhones every year, ride on expensive yachts, wear limited-edition shoes, wear 18-carat gold watches, dine with the Prince of Dubai, and party nonstop in The Bahamas.

Yes, this is what many of them do, so it is strange to think they will use old iPhones, wear the same clothes, own only one or two cars, and so on.

This is why Bill Gates' line up to buy a burger on the street will make headlines. We believe they can simply stay at home and order one for themselves. We sometimes forget that these people are human beings, and they need to go for a walk for their own health or to experience life in its most basic form.

I took this picture years back in college. The idea was to stay at the back of the white car and pretended it was mine.

Being wealthy is a completely different thing.

Many people believe that spending is the only way to show how wealthy you are. I understand that spending is one way to truly enjoy wealth, but even the wealthiest people get tired and want to indulge in the simple things in life.

They want to feel like humans and to be loved; sometimes they even want to disguise themselves, go somewhere else, and pretend to be someone else; and sometimes they are caught on camera doing these things, which are then recorded and uploaded online.

When that video was recorded, it was most likely taken out of context, possibly for fun or humor, but this is what social media expectations and standards result in.

We expect the rich to always be dripping. They must always wear the latest fashion trends, including gold chains, even in the bathroom.

Some people expect rich people to constantly change their wardrobe, and when they see them wearing the same clothes they wore months or years ago, they quickly make videos of them and post them on the internet to increase engagement and views on their page.

In reality, some of these individuals came from humble beginnings and were fortunate to become so wealthy. Some of them are unable to enjoy the pleasures of the wealthy because they were raised in the trenches and frugality is already ingrained in their DNA.

I believe that being frugal is not a disease; it is unusual for a wealthy person, but it is not a disease. It is not everyone who wants to wear their net worth.

It is true that when people start making money, they want to spend to show off their new status, and they want to enjoy the vanity of money, but as time passes, diminishing returns are frequently achieved, and the need to flex wealth or money gradually fades. We can not begin to discuss the numerous benefits of frugality, and one of the most overstated uses of social media is to validate money and wealth.

It reminds me back then in school when my friends would say, "Spend this money. Spend this money." They think spending money equals living the life. I just shook my head at them. I'm not even rich yet, just because Hive made me so, they think I should start flaunting my money and spending carelessly like them. I have chosen to be frugal for years which made them think I'm being selfish. I know why I chose to pick that lifestyle. Today, most of them still applaud me for being simple with my lifestyle.

Frugality is never a disease. It's everyone's choice and that shouldn't make one assume someone isn't living or enjoying a good life all because they don't spend.

Most people who would say "spend this money" wouldn't be there when you go broke, but they're probably saying that so they can enjoy part of your flamboyancy, that's if you actually take their advice.
I'm probably not begging on the street: one, because of God's mercies, two, because I manage things like a homeless person.

Eventually, when you choose to live simplistically there's always a feeling of accomplishment that comes with it.

You nail it here. I'm grateful, too.

I love that feeling of accomplishment! 👌

People act like having money means you have to spend it like you're in a music video. Some of the richest folks dress like they just grabbed whatever was on top of the laundry pile. Frugality isn’t a disease, it’s just smart money moves

I think we've seen wealthy people over the years dress like they don't even own a dime. I think over the years we've seen that, and social media and people like that will always criticize people like for trying to be frugal.

I'd rather be frugal than squandering all my money, and then turn out to beg and ask for assistance.

That exact moment when you're broke lol is when you'll begin to ask yourself different questions. "Broke" is a bad place to be in

I think there will always be people who show off. I have seen quite a few stories where people just rent out or borrow things, then try to pass it off as their own on social media. In that case, I think its much better to just be frugal and not worry about all the trouble that comes along with it.

Hahaha I think borrowing stuffs to pass off online is one that's quite popular. I've been very frugal all my life and most of my financial mistakes isn't because I overspend.

Not being frugal isnt a disease either. The problem here is not the spending. It is really the purpose that matters.
