Are you selfish?

1000620291.jpg

Humans are naturally selfish, and those who truly understand human nature and attitudinal tendencies frequently use this to their advantage.

For example, when a law, decree, or event favors one group of people while displeasing others, why do the people who benefit from it find it difficult to speak out?

It benefits them. I have seen countless instances where freedom fighters are bought over by government bodies and given positions in places of power, becoming a part of the government they frequently criticize, and eventually being silenced.

Typically, corrupt governments buy the loudest voices of reason, removing their edge and forcing them to name their highest price. Why? It is easier to pay 20 or 30 people than to meet the needs of 100 million people.

One of the reasons why people become voices of reason is that they began by wanting a better life for others; they understand what it feels like to be in pain because they are in pain as well, and when they gain a platform and an audience, their voices become too powerful to ignore. Equality and equity help people find a common voice.

When people are collectively marginalized, cheated, or failed, they can unite to form a powerful coalition capable of overthrowing any government agency. However, these agencies recognize the power of unity and thus decide to weaponize money as a tool for destroying that unity.

Most people become sworn enemies during elections, and they begin to identify as Republican or Democrat, when what they really need to identify with is the best option for the nation and country.

Politics is the most powerful tool for sowing discord and division, and even in the twenty-first century, most people still do not understand this.

Tilt to instincts

At its core, as I previously stated, it is easy to succumb to selfish tendencies, which stem from the implicit reason to prioritize our own selves over others.

However, this generally prevents cooperation. When people are not united at the grassroots, it is extremely difficult for them to progress, and this has been a constant tool throughout history.

Equality and equity will never be fully practical because people have hidden agendas, even if they appear to share common goals.

This is why people cannot be fully united; it is stressful to fight for things that will not benefit us, or to continue to fight for betterment when our situations have already improved, but this is not the case for others. However, the instinct naturally stems from a place of comfort, laziness, and exhaustion; sometimes it is simply selfishness without a logical explanation.

Look inwards

Anyone can be selfish, and sometimes we have to look inside ourselves, recognize our tendencies, and choose not to give in. People can become selfish for a variety of reasons, including money.

For example, I have always realized that my selfish tendencies are not because I do not care; they are sometimes due to laziness and illness, and on my best days, I try to self-reflect, examine my life, see what I have done wrong or right, and motivate myself to improve.

I have a way of reaching out to people I have not treated fairly. I believe this is important because I understand how it feels to be subjected to the selfish tendencies of others; it is never a good feeling, and it hurts.

Overall, loyalty is not something we rely on heavily; people may need to be incentivized to either lose or gain loyalty; however, nothing should truly be the reason for loyalty. It is important to recognize these gutter tendencies; we are all guilty of succumbing to them at times, but it is also important to snap out of it and choose to be better.

I get sad when I see just how quickly some people switch sides once they get a taste of power or money. The system knows how to keep real change from happening.

Well, it's life, most people 99% will do the same. It takes discipline, loyalty and also the fear of God to remain loyal and not change with power and money

Most People nowadays care only when the situation favour them, they tend to ignore others who are the victim of the situation, that's why the rulers of our countries are constantly careless about the citizen. Note this that when we talk about the government and the people of high status in the country with this selfish attitude what about we that are in low status we are as much as these people, we want to have good life by hurting our fellow struggling niggas, maybe in sharing of gift item sponsored by an helping organization to help the community, people simply decide not to distribute or take the larger percentage to their family. The conclusion is that we are still struggling we hurt ourselves too when we understand that our survival are through real suffering and I have always been bordered by this every time.

That's what most black countries suffer especially Nigeria. I made mention of freedom fighting and people fighting to better the lives of their loved ones. Once the situation changes or they're being bribed by the government then every situation changes and there no longer care.
Unfortunately this is how it is, I feel that somehow, the choice to not be selfish is a personal decision

Hmmnn, selfishness! It's a great thought from you! This makes me remember somethings some people have done for me in the past. You know some people can actually make you make a decision in being selfish due to some kind of attitude that they posses. I've experienced many experiences. Immediately I say this your entry, it reminds me of those bad days then.

Lol, everyone remembers one or two act of selfishness, especially in their lifetime. I remember many as well, but I'm also trying aa much as possible not to be the person I dislike. It's important to be loyal and also hope for that loyalty to be reciprocated.

Haha I guess no one wants to exchange a good spot with a bad one, so it's all good. Life puts us in uncomfortable situation sometimes, where we have to either focus on ourselves and divide the focus

This is true, just that for most of us as we grow and we're enlightened we become more conscious of the Fact that we're not just living for ourselves but for others too, we began to think of legacies, good records to bear our names and carry our voices, but obviously the so-called politicians do not see this, just after their families and securing that transgenerational wealth for them selves that's all....

Yes, this is true. Most African countries have more disloyal people in their government, this is why slavery actually thrived in the 80s and early 1900s, and that's why we don't have much of a middle class at all.

Yeah … being selfish is a natural tendency… sometimes we have to be selfish for our inner peace when no one can understand us and not valued us 😅😅😅

Yes, it's a natural tendency. To be a little selfish sometimes is actually not bad, but sometimes we have to be selfless as well.
