English Version

Since ancient times man has had a fascinating curiosity about the cosmos. Looking at the sky and the stars has always been a way of searching for answers to questions that cannot always be found on Earth. That is why so much time and study has been devoted to solving the riddles of the Universe, many of which remain unsolved to this day.

Much has been written and studied about the universe, not only by scientists and scholars, but also in schools and in numerous spaces created to make knowledge about our planet, the solar system and the infinite space that surrounds us accessible to all.

This is also the case of museums that not only provide us with knowledge, but also invite us to connect and interact with them. One of these spaces is the Havana Planetarium, located in the historic centre of the capital within the Plaza Vieja. This planetarium offers an interactive and visual experience for all ages. Although due to power problems it was not working, as it is an interactive space with projections and tours, my daughter and I were able to enter and admire the large model of the solar system that is the main attraction of the place.

On the ceiling, above the scale representation of the sun in the centre and the planets revolving around it, is a simulated luminous sky, where the points of light represent the stars. As I look up, I am inevitably reminded of the question we have all asked ourselves at some time, "What lies beyond?

This model is the most eye-catching and most enjoyed by the children, although it is not the only thing the place has to offer. It also has several interactive games for the whole family to enjoy. I had always wanted to visit it and would have loved to see it in full operation.

At the entrance to the museum is a commemorative plaque dedicated to three great founding figures of cosmonautics. A well-deserved tribute to those who made possible the feat of putting the first man into space.

The Havana Planetarium is a place designed for the dissemination of science and astronomy, but also to enjoy with family or friends a special visit and a beautiful moment.

Cheers, and see you next time!
