Obey God right?
The Sabbath is a person to obey not a day to observe.
That's not what the bible says....
Exodus 20:8
Colossians 2: 14-17 has the answer. You may look it up to see.
Context....
That's talking about feast days. And the Sabbath was not a shadow of things to come, it was Christ. Handwritings of ordinances was the Mosaic law, not the 10 commandments. Found on the side of the ark, not in the ark.
Trust me, I've done my research and prayerfully looked at every trick in the book. Nowhere from Genesis to Revelation is the Sabbath abolished and changed.
It's just not there.
Now do a deep dive on why it was changed. Look into the history. You'll see it :)
(we ought to obey God rather than man....)
And here's what was 'written against us'....
Simple bible study...
Deuteronomy 31:26
βTake this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.β
Jesus is the fulfillment of the Law and the Old Testament. Thus Sabbath became Sunday to early Christians especially His apostles. Look up church history to know more. π
The bible (Word of God) is above church history.
There is absolutely zero scripture that says Sabbath was changed to Sunday. It's not there, as much as people want to do biblical gymnastics to flip it.
Jesus kept Sabbath. We are His followers no?
Now go do research of how and why it was changed.....It's eye opening!
Yes of course Jesus kept Sabbath because He was a Jew. Are we Jews or Christians? The Bible is church history and not above God Himself nor His teachings and traditions which He taught His disciples. It is pretty easy to do an online research now yes? You can pray abt it if you want to know the Truth. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life indeed.
Was Adam and Eve jewish?
Genesis 2.....Sabbath was there. No jews back then ;)
Well that doesn't answer the question of are we Jews or Christians.
No Jews back then because humans were just created and fell from grace. God chose a person (Abraham) just so He can proceed with His plan of salvation. And that's how Jews came to be, because of His covenant with Abraham, Noah, Moses, etc.
As for Sabbath, yes it was mentioned. But again, we are Christians who follow Christ. Thus Sabbath became Sunday even for His apostles.
Ahhhh but you can't just say 'Sunday became Sabbath'...That's not in the bible.
Anywhere.
Oh but it's there. If you're looking for the literal word you won't find it of course. Just like you won't find many words in the Bible but if you read it and ask God's help to understand it then you will see it. And of course since Protestants don't believe in Church traditions the Bible is the only thing you can hold on to. Such is life these days.
Find it for me :)
Bible study time!
Oh but you can find it on your own. It's very easy. Read the Catholic search results, even AI can answer your questions these days. π
OK, Let's see what the Catholic church brings up....
The Catholic Mirror on September 23, 1894:
βThe Catholic Church for over one thousand years before the existence of a Protestant by virtue of her divine mission, changed the day from Saturday to Sunday.β
Yes. Go on. Pray first before deep diving. π God bless your spiritual journey. π
There's so much more :)
Your church is an interesting one. But it's always glory to God. I appreciate the talks. I honestly do.
Amen. God is awesome! π
We're the only ones talking abt God on here. All the rest aren't joining the convo. So sad but such is life. π
There's quite a few on here that read and lurk...But it's such a touchy subject on chain...Lots of atheists and lots of people that hate any kind of religious talk.
I think if it's done respectfully, let's go. It's fun and always a good time talking God lol
Amen. Let's do our best to change things around here, even just a little. haha.
Lord help us spread Your Word and glory for the salvation of more people. π
Amen to that...I'll tag you in my post in a bit. I think you'll enjoy it :)
And to answer the question....We are Christians. Followers of Christ. He kept Sabbath. So He's my example ;)
As a Catholic we go to mass on Sundays. As for other Christians, y'all have your own rules so I'm out. π
It's not rules lol It's literally...The Word of God.
It's alright, those who separated themselves from Catholicism are still Christians even if St. Paul said to not separate or be divided. So many people are stubbornly clinging to disobedience, sins and/or bad behavior thus so many schisms happened. Lord have mercy on us all.
10000000% agree on this for sure!
And His apostles kept Sabbath too....Check out Acts :)
Yes because they were Jews first before becoming Christians. It's definitely in there, in the Bible itself.
I'll do a longer blog post on it, it's a fun study. Thanks for inspiring it :)
You're welcome! Glad to help! π
