No os afanéis -- Do not worry

Jesus speaks directly: He urged us to stop worrying about the basics that everyone worries about, because life isn't just about dressing well, eating well, or simply trying to have everything figured out. Today we live in a society that teaches us all this and that we always have too little and need more, to fill ourselves with meaningless things. But the Lord Jesus tells us the following: Isn't your life worth more than all that? Am I not enough to take care of you?

The Lord isn't saying we shouldn't work or plan; the idea here is that we shouldn't live excessively worried, trying to carry the load ourselves, because every time we place our security in fleeting things, we simply become anxious. But when we place all our trust in God, we have peace. It's not about having absolutely everything under control, but rather having complete security in knowing that we are in God's hands.

Today can be the day we decide to let go of that anxiety, let go of worry, and hold on tightly to God, for He knows everything we need long before we ask Him. Let us stop running after what God promised He would give us and try each day to live trusting in God's provision and care.

Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, or about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?

Jesús habla directamente: instó a que dejemos de preocuparnos por lo básico por lo que todo el mundo se preocupa porque la vida no consiste solamente en vestirse bien, en comer bien o simplemente en tratar de tener todo resuelto. Hoy vivimos en una sociedad que nos enseña todo esto y que siempre es poco y necesitamos
tener más, a llenarnos de cosas sin sentido. Pero el señor Jesús nos dice lo siguiente ¿no vale más tu vida que todo eso? ¿No soy yo suficiente para cuidarte?.

El señor tampoco está diciendo que no trabajemos o que no planifiquemos, la idea aquí es que no vivíamos excesivamente preocupado tratando de llevar la carga nosotros sólo porque cada vez que ponemos nuestra seguridad en las cosas pasajeras simplemente nos llenamos de ansiedad. Pero cuando depositamos toda nuestra confianza en Dios tenemos paz. No se trata de tener bajo control absolutamente todas las cosas sino tener plena seguridad de saber que estamos en las manos de Dios.

Hoy puede ser el día en que decidamos soltar esa ansiedad, soltar la preocupación y agarrarnos fuertemente de Dios ya que él sabe todo lo que necesitamos mucho antes de que se lo pidamos, dejemos de correr detrás de aquello que Dios prometió que nos daría y tratemos cada día de vivir confiados en la provisión y en el cuidado de Dios.

Por tanto os digo: No os afanéis por vuestra vida, qué habéis de comer o qué habéis de beber; ni por vuestro cuerpo, qué habéis de vestir. ¿No es la vida más que el alimento, y el cuerpo más que el vestido?
