Al amor y el dolor de Jesus. -- To the love and pain of Jesus.

In this painting, Jesus looks intently at Jerusalem, not playing with anger but with great sadness. This is similar to a father or mother who sees their child make decisions that hurt them time and time again. Even when offered the care of the shelter, they simply refuse.

Jesus speaks of offering peace and protection. Here he shows us that God's love is not forced. God offers us, insists, calls, seeks, but never forces us. In this painting, Jesus' heart is broken. Not because of rejection, but because of seeing how those people, guided by their own thoughts, get lost and don't accept his love.

This is a clear call for us to return to God, to stop struggling alone and approach the arms of peace and protection that God has open for us. Often, we focus on work and on so many other distractions, like Jerusalem. Our heads fill with noise, and our hearts become disconnected from those who love us most. Today is the day for us to place God on the throne of our lives.

Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you! How often I longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing!

En este cuadro que Jesús mira atentamente Jerusalén y no lo está jugando con rabia sino que lo está haciendo con mucha tristeza, esto es similar a ese padre o esa madre que vea su hijo tomar esas decisiones que lo lastiman vez tras vez, aún cuando se le ofrece cuidado del refugio elijo simplemente no lo acepta.

Jesús habla de ofrecer paz y protección, aquí nos muestra que el amor de Dios no es forzado, Dios nos ofrece, insiste, llama, busca pero nunca nos obliga, en este cuadro el corazón de Jesús está partido. No por el rechazo sino por ver como ese pueblo guiado por sus propios pensamientos se pierde y no acepta su amor.

Éste es un llamado claro a que volvamos a Dios, que dejemos de luchar solos y nos acerquemos a los brazos de paz y protección que Dios tiene abierto para nosotros. Muchas veces nos enfocamos en el trabajo en muchísimas otras distracciones así como Jerusalén, la cabeza se nos llena de ruido y el corazón se nos desconecta de quién más nos ama. Hoy es el día para que pongamos a Dios en el trono de nuestras vidas.

¡Jerusalén, Jerusalén, que matas a los profetas, y apedreas a los que te son enviados! ¡Cuántas veces quise juntar a tus hijos, como la gallina junta sus polluelos debajo de las alas, y no quisiste!
