Hello everyone,
It’s an absolute pleasure to be here once again! Wow, what an incredible privilege to be a witness of the final month of this year. It’s been quite a while since I last shared anything on this platform, and I’ve truly missed all your amazing content, creativity, and organizational brilliance. As always, I’m still @Johndoy0.

Alright, let’s dive into this week’s Afri-Tune Inleo Initiative. We have an interesting topic to explore: Physical Music Mentorship and Online Music Tutorials; which is Better? I must say, that this topic has kept been on my mind for some time now. But before we delve into it, I want to acknowledge the incredible minds behind this initiative. Your hard work and vision have not only inspired me but also empowered me to achieve more. Thank you!

A Lesson from Great Organizations

Every successful organization we admire today didn’t start big. They began with small, deliberate steps and grew under the guidance of mentors or coaches who provided the support and expertise needed to thrive higher even under unfavorable conditions. Growth is rarely achieved in isolation—it’s often the result of learning from those who have walked the path before us. Personal growth only takes you a step a head but under supervision you grow to the top.

This brings us to our discussion: Which is better—physical mentorship or online tutorials—for learning music?

Understanding the Two Approaches

  1. Physical Music Mentorship
This involves in-person guidance or one-on-one coaching or mentorship from a mentor or a coach in a specific skill, such as music business or any order field of expertize. It emphasizes face-to-face interaction, creating a hands-on and personalized learning experience. This method allows for immediate feedback and tailored guidance, which can be invaluable, especially for beginners.
  1. Online Music Tutorials
In contrast, online tutorials involve learning through pre-recorded content on platforms like YouTube or other streaming services. This approach offers flexibility, allowing learners to proceed at their own pace, on their own schedule, and from any location.

Which is Better?

The choice between physical mentorship and online tutorials ultimately depends on the learner’s preferences and needs:

Physical Mentorship: Ideal for those who value direct interaction, immediate feedback, and structured guidance. It helps build foundational skills more effectively, especially for beginners.

Online Tutorials: Suited for learners who prefer flexibility and self-paced study. This approach can be great for supplementing knowledge or advancing existing skills.

**My Perspective

As a pianist, I leaned heavily on physical mentorship when starting out. It wasn’t because I lacked the resources for online learning but because in-person coaching worked best for me. The hands-on guidance and real-time feedback allowed me to grasp concepts more quickly. Now, I use online tutorials to build on what I’ve learned in class, which enhances my skills further.

While both approaches have their merits, physical mentorship often provides a stronger foundation, particularly for beginners. Online tutorials can be an excellent complement, offering additional learning opportunities. Ultimately, success in any skill comes down to personal discipline, commitment, and a willingness to learn.

Thank you for staying with me through this discussion. I look forward to connecting with you again next week. Stay inspired! And save.
