An experience I will never forget
Hello everyone,Welcome to the 57th edition of the Hive Naija Weekly Prompt. I'm @johndoy0, and this week, I’ll be sharing some unforgettable experiences with you.
Life is full of ups and downs, and if not properly handled, it can lead to lasting regret. Along the journey of life, we encounter both good and bad events that leave us with unforgettable memories.
On August 2nd, 2024, I lost my grandfather. He was not just a grandfather, but a friend as well. He had been sick for a while, and every time we spoke over the phone, he would ask when I was coming to visit since we lived in different states. I promised to visit after my exams, but shockingly, he passed away just two days after my last paper.
When I heard the news of his death, his question, "When will you come and see me?" kept ringing in my mind. To make things worse, right after receiving the news, I discovered that my locked Jinchen motorcycle had been stolen. It was a double shock on that very day.
Another unforgettable incident was when I decided to fall in love for the first time. There was this girl who had been coming around, and people, including my mother, kept telling me she wasn't just looking for friendship. Ignoring them, I continued to interact with her for about a year and eventually decided to pursue a relationship with her. But just when I thought we could start something, the love she once showed had faded, and our relationship ended in less than a week. It was a tough pill to swallow, but I accepted it in good faith.
One more incident that has left me worried involved a money swap during which a neighbor asked to keep some amount of money in my account for her. Initially, I was reluctant, but her persistent requests wore me down. She claimed to have issues with her own account, which I promised to help her fix, but she never followed through. Eventually, I was duped, losing more than half the money. Now, I’m struggling to repay it as a high school teacher earning only 15,000, monthly while the amount owed is several times my salary. What a funny moments, when I discovered that the money belonged to her friend, who now looks at me as if I don’t want to pay it back and always want to threatening about the whole situation. Despite my promise to give a part of my monthly salary, it's not enough to meet their expectations, and I fear it might lead to police involvement.
Life experiences are for our building and strengthening, although the regret around it will always remain as a flash back to the incidence. In as much as we can't stop some of this experiences from occuring, learn not to tire down to it but always stay focused and positive.
Thank you for reading. See you next week for another edition of the hive weekly prompt.
